Best iPhone Apps

Excuse the ignorance, but what or where is "hackulo repo"?

Open Cydia, hit the Manage tab, select Sources, select Edit and Add and enter the URL http://cydia.hackulo.us/ and add it... Soon as it's done, search for Installous and install.

"No need, just download Installous (notice not install0us) from the hackulo repo and it has that built in"

Might have to re-install... Nothing in the Browse tab on my phone... Just Downloads and Settings.

Oops... That's the "where" part of Baigoboy's question... The what part is pretty simple... You need to add Hackulo 'cos thats the repository you need to find and install Installous. Installous allows you to install cracked apps on your phone...

Ok thanks. My phone is jailbroken so i will install Installous. Just 1 more question though. I don't know which apps are jailbroken. How do you know if an app is jailbroken? I have downloaded many apps from Cydia. They all downloaded fine and work fine. I take that it means that those apps are not jailbroken because then it would not have worked because I don't have Installous. Is that correct?

Right, Apple have their App store in iTunes. All the apps you download from the store are legit. Cydia has always been offered as an alternate to the iTunes store and many app that haven't been approved by Apple are available there.
As far as cracked apps go, there is a big community out there who crack the apps available in the iTunes store (generally the ones you'd have to pay for) and then make them available for anyone to download for free... There are two websites in particular where these apps are available. I'm not sure if the myBB forum allows referencing the URL's but Google them if you'd like... From those sites, you can download apps online and then drag the .ipa files into your iTunes library... Sync your phone and there you go... Cracked apps on your iPhone.

Yip, links to cracked software and sites shouldn't really be on here. You can mention a site by name though - just don't post the links ;)

PS. It's your phone thats jailbroken, not the apps... Jailbroken phones allow you to install apps that haven't been digitally signed by Apple... i.e cracked apps... ;-)

Thanks rapidblue... apptrackr and appcake

Can we have a separate section for the Cydia and hacking please. Not all of us want to do it (yet).

If you like puzzles, I'm enjoying Lets Tans (Delux) {free}. It's a simple shape moving thing but it's not easy.
iCut is also quite interesting, You get a shape made of blocks and have to split it into identical parts. {free}

I also found CtC crush the castle [free] very similar to Angry Birds. This one uses a catapult to fling big stones at medieval castles. I wonder which came first?

ok I understand now, thanks for the info. So if jailbreak allows unsigned apps from Cydia to work on the phone, then Installous allows cracked apps to work? Is that the function of Installous? I understand all that you are saying above but still don't quite understand where Installous fits into this all.

Look at it this way... Cydia allows you to download apps that aren't available in the iTunes App Store at all. Generally these apps have not been approved by Apple and their creators have had come up with another way of distributing them... Hence the need for Cydia...
Then, in addition to original Cydia apps, some bright sparks figured out that if you could bypass Apple's digital signature you could install apps that were available in iTunes without paying for them... The result is Installous which allows you to install apps that are available in the iTunes App Store (at a price) that have been cracked and then made available for download for free through sites like apptrackr...

Ok cool, understood. Here I come Appcake and Installous.....

I started playing Reckless Racing last night. It's pretty good. Reminds me of that old offroad racing game for the pc, called Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road. It features multiplayer over the internet as well.

Ok I downloaded Navigon yesterday and used it last night. I was quite impressed with it. Found it more user friendly than my stand-alone Garmin. Much easier to find locations than my Garmin.
Also downloaded some of the games you guys recommeded. Real Racing is great, so are both of the NFS's. And I have to recommend Rugby 10 to you guys. Great game.
