Looking to get some cheap dsl

Im looking for the following:

4MB Uncapped + Data Line (Shaped, Semi-Shaped, Unshaped, Throttled)

I just want to get the best deal.

Telkom is R189 so that not with the isp.

Budget for everything : R700

Any other suggestion is also welcome as long as it stays within the budget & speed

For this type of user I always recommend Telkom Uncapped.
 
Telkom analog line R189
Telkom 4 MB ADSL line R299
Afrihost 100 GB capped data R199
Total R687
Afrihost 4 MB home uncapped R237 will break your budget by R25.
 
Axxess offers line + uncapped 4mb = R479
Telkom Analog line = R189

Comes in at R668

I don't recommend giving your line to a ISP (lots of problems) and uncapped doesn't mean unshaped or unthrottled. Just a word of warning you pay for what you get.

On the other hand it suits your budget.

No one has asked important questions: How much usage per month, and what will you be using it for?

Telkom Retail are also a client of Openserve. So this line of reasoning no longer applies. In fact ISP to ISP movement of lines is much easier than when Telkom get involved...

How does is work if you have a fault and the ISP is handling your line?

Don't do uncapped if you tend to stream Netflix m8, I'm watching House of cards ATM @ 720 at 50 min a show, I stream about 2 to 4 GB a night on Netflix, most uncapped accounts throttle your streaming and you definitely feel it on a 4mb line. 10mb is still ok and you'd still be able to get 720p.

PS I'm on afrihost 100GB capped with their Afrihost + option I get double data 200 GB And I pay R780 including line rental

If you are in the right area for this http://www.telkom.co.za/today/unlimited-broadband/ you should probably get this. Speeds up to 100mb/s and its uncapped. You can only download 50gigs p2p (torrents) and its a 24 month contract.

All for R699

For streaming its really good but not so good for torrents.

Once confirmed by the ISP, it is submitted to Openserve for resolution either by remote config change or tech dispatch. And that applies to all ISPs...

you can look at VOX Fatpipe where you get free download from 00.00 - 06.00 and schedule your downloads within that timeframe and its unshaped...

got the fatpipe 150gb and i'm very happy mostly...and its in your budget... currently pay R350 for my 10mb line and R255 for the fatpipe and that includes an extra bolton @R59...

You must have a bad isp, I can do 720p video just fine on my 2Mb/s telkom uncapped package.

FNB account gave me 1080p at times on a 4mb/s line. And that was uncapped
