Best knife sharpener

I've been using my Warthog sharpener for a while now, it's not perfect but it works soo well.
You get razor sharp knives without needing any skills, you can literally shave your arm after a few pulls though the diamond hones. For the normal guy or gal who doesn't have any diy inclinations or desire to learn real knife sharpening like @saor it's a hands down winner, just wish the replacement hones weren't so pricey.

How would you rate it vs the work sharp ken onion edition?

Just waiting for euro/dollar exchange to come down to buy one from Europe. It works with SA power unlike US versions. Cheaper than local suppliers.

Edit
I want a simple DIY solution with minimal expertise required.

I can't help but think you're better of getting a belt grinder, at basically half the price. Something like this:

You get tons of different belts. And it's also good for starting out knife making.

If you don’t need to reprofile an edge then a Warthog will do the job effortlessly, dead simple and works… razor sharp knives.

Ideally I’d like to get some fine hones for my Warthog but even with the stock grit you can’t go wrong.

Lekker sharp. That we me being silly and cutting like a fool.

One thing I don't like about the Warthog is if you aren't careful and you let the side of the blade touch the hones it scratches the fk out of your knife, one slip up and it's bye bye to your pristine looking knife.

For the inexperienced, spyderko.

A set of whetstones, with a bit of practice, will keep your blade razor sharp forever

Has anyone bought the finer Diamond hones for their Warthog sharpener?
The stock hones are 325 Grit which is great for mild repair of the edge profile but way too coarse for sharpening an edge that has no issues.
Between 600 or 1000 grit which would be the answer?
And would either be able to quickly flatten the honing marks from the 325grit, ie jump straight from 325 to say 1000?

They sell these grits:
270 Grit – Xtra Coarse
325 Grit – Coarse
600 Grit – Medium
1000 Grit – Fine
Ceramic - can also be used on serrated knives

I'm looking at these sharpeners, I see they now sell one that does a 15 degree angle, which is great. My only issue is that a couple knives need to be reprofiled, and I wonder if it can handle taking them from 20 to 15 degrees for example, or taking of enough to get out chips.

No, the Warthog sharpener won't work for that. You need something like a Lansky for that. I have both. https://safarioutdoor.co.za/camping...sharpeners-and-sundries/l/manufacturer:lansky

I don't want to have to buy a whole extra thing for a task I won't be doing very often. The Warthog sells the 270 grit, which I was hoping might do the trick.

Otherwise I am going to have to look at one of those Chef'sChoice electric sharpeners maybe, that have the ability to take off more material and reprofile.

Maybe just have those few knives professionally sharpened/reprofiled because that will be a once off exercise.

Some of you have sharpeners that are costlier than all my knives combined and I have 6 knives. I just have a stone - I think it cost 30 rands at builders.
