Best Navigation App for SA

Since your obvious answer is not iTunes, I suspect you are looking for the cracked/illegal version. in that case GFY...
GFY you say? yes, it means Go Fukc Yourself.

I can't get behind this kind of BS attitude. EliteOP GFY: CoPilot SA is available on AppTrakr.

Hey at the end of the day the guy actually bought the software Legally, so everyone wins (developers etc)
Maybe you should not handing out websites where it seems to me hosts cracked apps etc. on these boards...

Super keen on Tom Tom. I only have 2 questions. Does turn by turn voice directions work like it does on a GPS unit? And more importantly can I get Darth Vader on my iPhone? hehehe

Jailbreaking Apple products no longer illegal...

Hi all just came accross this thread and have to add my 2 cents but befor i do let me just clarify that i don't want to offend anybody by what i want to add but never the less still feel that it could produce a more open minded aproach when people need help with Apple products that have been "jailbroken", according to this article "jailbreaking" one of these products is no longer illegal but does void Apples warranties, please read the article below...:

(for reference purposes the original article can be found here)

Hackers release browser-based iPhone 4 jailbreak

The unlocked iPhone 4 is now technically legal and technically possible.

Just days after the U.S. Copyright Office ruled that bypassing a manufacturer's protection mechanisms to allow "handsets to execute software applications" no longer violates federal copyright law, the iPhone Dev Team on Sunday released a jailbreak for the iPhone 4 at JailbreakMe.com.

Unlike previous jailbreaks, which required the device to be connected to a computer to run the update, the latest jailbreak is accomplished completely via mobile Safari loaded on the device. The browser-based software bypass reportedly works on all iOS devices, including iPhones, iPads, and iPods running iOS 4 and iOS 4.01, but it will reportedly not work on devices running the iOS 4.1 beta.

Also, some users report the jailbreak disrupts FaceTime and MMS functionality on the device.

However, as of this writing, demand for the jailbreak is apparently so strong that the site's servers can't keep up, and many visitors report difficulty in getting through.

Jailbreaking allows devices to run apps not approved by the company producing the operating system--such as Apple, the main target of such bypasses. Jailbreaking also allows devices to run on nonauthorized networks.

While the U.S. Copyright Office has declared the software legal, Apple discourages users from loading the bypass, reminding them that doing so will void their device's warranty. "As we've said before, the vast majority of customers do not jailbreak their iPhones as this can violate the warranty and can cause the iPhone to become unstable and not work reliably," Apple said in a statement earlier this week.

Cool. I myself actually use Navigon too :) I have the iPhone Tom Tom carkit but use it with Navigon - he he ;)

I know this is an old post, but if you remember and don't mind me asking, where did you buy the car kit from and how much? Any idea of a store I could get an iPhone car kit?

Got it from Cape Union Mart in Menlyn - R1250 :)

I actually saw one in a store in Menlyn or Centurion the other day - can't remember which store it was though - maybe a CNA??

Aah, sorry, just saw that you actually from Durban... Maybe call a few Cape Union Marts there and see who has in stock :)

yeah I will look around. Will check Union Mart as well as CNA and maybe HiFiCorp or even Look n Listen maybe.

DEON Wired (in Gateway, DBN) has the Tom Tom car kits, I use mine mostly for the following reasons, it's a decent car kit, it supports hands free calls and works with 99.9% of my apps. Before I got the Tom Tom car kit, I had already gone through 3 generic cradles and a Griffin car charge kit (spent more on those than I did on the Tom Tom car kit!)

+1 also the GPS app seems more responsive and is a lot more accurate in the cradle. Just find that the tom tom app is a little bit expensive. Not sure how much of an advantage the cradle + app will give over using something like navigon or ndrive though.

Thanks mate. I am going to Gateway this weekend, so I will definitely check out Deon Wired :)

it supports hands free calls

Only via connecting with bluetooth (which sucks!), or which would at least be ok if you could detach the thing...seems pointless using Bluetooth to connect to the dock when the actual thing has to be docked anyways...

And hands free only utilizes the built in speaker of the dock, not the aux output of the dock which is really irritating too...

Otherwise, best dock by far. Can easily mod it to fit the iPhone 4 with some velcro which fills up the gap.

So does this mean that the TomTom cradle is customised for the 3G and 3GS only? There isnt one out for the iPhone 4 yet?
