Best online shop?

I can recommend sybaritic.co.za.

Crap web design, but very good service, and relatively good prices.

glad this thread came about cos yesterday i wanted to ask if anyone has ever bought anything from technopro.co.za , cos i want to make an online purchase from their site. i've never made an online purchase before so i'm a bit cautious about the whole thing. any advice plz? thanks.

Had some good vibes about them. The owner/manager?? (Kobie van Zyl) is running the site as a full time job. He is also a member of ASSJHB. I quickly googled his name and found a number of references of Astronomy seminars he attended, astro-photos taken by him etc. BTW, I also noticed that technopro is the sponsor of the www.assajhb.co.za website, recommended by www.bushnell.co.za as online dealer etc.

Looks safe to me!

I have bought online from Kalahari, Prophecy, Sybaritic and Wantitall.

I can highly reccommend any of these. Kalahari has an awesome tracking service with sms alerts sent to you. The others use e-mail and are also quite efficient.

I once tried Digital Planet but had a horrible experience and have never gone back there.

i used prophecy the other day, and was impressed at the good service i got, stay away from digital planet!!!

Ya, they are great. I have had nothing but good service and great prices from them either.

Can you access their site right now?

Prophecy & Sybaritic are pretty good as well as Take2, but Take2 sometimes is a little more :)

Landmark computers are excellent. Also able to get something's that the other supplier in SA can't.

Other places I have used is prophecy and the dealers on systemshock and pcbuyersguide.

Is that Pinelands in Cape Town?

I just tried getting to their site on a dialup line about 10 minutes ago, Got a Database error. Back home now on my ADSL line the site works 100%.

That's wierd. Occasionally our host has had problems where they are accessible from certain major ISPs and not from others - for example, for about 6 hours once I could access our site on 3g and not via ADSL.... not cool :(

Prophecy has been down all weekend for me. Anyone else experiencing this?

Sorry about this :( I know that load shedding caused some issues with our host, afaik the server was up at that date :/

I think it has a lot to do with who attends to your online request at the time as many of these sites employ inexperienced people (similar to call centers).
Some people will go out of there way while others go by the book, others will send you stuff you did not ask for.
For instance last year sometime I wanted a new Nostromo N52 speedpad and Prophecy had one but they wanted 500 bucks for it ($35 in the US - R6.10/$ at the time) and their policy was take it or leave it.
I got one the same day at digitalplanet for R350 including deliver - that was 2pm and by 9 am the next day I received it.

Hi ProAsm

Sorry for the unsatisfactory service - at that point I think we where importing the Nostromo products ourselves because we where not aware of the local distributor, hence the crazy pricing. Generally we are keen to try and match pricing and satisfy a customer, but obviously we can't sell stuff under cost consistently - we would go under! I'm glad you organised one from DP, it's an awesome product :D
