Best price on custom spec PC

Hi,

The last time I bought a desktop PC was in 2003. A lot has changed since then, and my desktop is finally due for an upgrade.. or rather replacement.

Here's the specs I've come up with. (I'll be mostly using it for Photoshop, Video editing, and perhaps gaming. Was never really possible with my previous PCs)

The pricing is a combination of Sybaritic and eBay.

R 2 000.00 Samsung 23" 2333SW 300cdm 20000:1 5ms LCD Monitor
R 2 000.00 Intel Core2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor
R 800.00 GIGABYTE GA-EP43-UD3L Intel p43 chipset ATX ddr2 sata2
R 1 400.00 8GB Kingston HyperX RAM 4X 2GB DDR2 1066 PC 8500 Memory
R 300.00 Codegen 6233-A2 Middle Tower Chassis - No PSU
R 1 300.00 Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX PCI-E Video card 9800 GTX
R 600.00 LOGITECH CORDLESS DESKTOP EX 110
R 150.00 Thermaltake Smart Fan 120mm
R 945.00 Seagate 1TB Barracuda 7200.11 SATA300 32MB 7200RPM Hard Drive

Totals to about R10600.

Any ideas on where I could get it cheaper? Any comments on components of course welcome.

Just as an aside, I would seriously recommend that you do not get this seagate drive. Search the forum to read about all the trouble. I've just bought a 1tb western digital green intellisense drive, which seems to be doing fine. Otherwise, the samsung drives seem to be a good alternative.

Seagates are more trouble than they're worth lately.
Kalahari has a special on the Samsung 1TB for R919.95 here

Shardie how do suspect he will use his 9800gt to play games on mac dude?

Holy smokes Mac is expensive 599 dollar for a 8400m piece of rubbish and only 1gb memory bwhahahahaha with a 120gb hdd? Amazing how expensive mac's are. 1gb memory omw LOL that is just crazy.

WTF all my suppliers only stock 160gb and upwards.

check that price for a mac mini, not only do you get 2gb memory for 10k but no screen and the hdd is a 5400rpm, damn a 10k pc will smash this mac mini and it would include 4gb memory and a 23" inch display with a decent vga card.

Agree with what has been said about the HDD- I have all Seagate - have already lost two drives, another on its way out. Not cool.

The cheapest I could find a geforce 9800 gtx in sa was about R2500, whereas on ebay it's about R1300.

Am I missing something?
 
Yup 9800gtx do not actually get sold new anymore they have been replaced by this

Skimping on the case?

Anyway Sybaritic is a good place to buy from! and as for the Seagate Comments, I havent had any problems with Seagate since the Firmware issues! - All sorted! - I would stick with Seagate!

Also:
Cooler Master eXtreme Power RP-650-PCAR Power Supply - 650W - R895.00 Much better!

He didn't ask for alternative components, he asked if there was somewhere he could what he picked cheaper.

He was advised on the HDD because of the vast amount of problems with Seagate over the last few months. Why should someone buy something that they then have to fix in order to use? Besides, the Samsung from Kalahari is cheaper
