Best provider on Octotel

From my own experience I can tell you want you DON"T want... AfriHost fibre... basically unusable !

Vox and Cool Ideas get consistent good feedback !
 
Hi all.. great thread... I'm also in the market to change to a new ISP. I've seen a lot a mix review on Hello Peter with regards to Cool Ideas service, specially in the last few months... Is this out of the norm or has there been a change in the level of service? Looking at what Cool Ideas gives you I am very interest... but don't want to make the change and then sit with endless problems.

Any feedback good or bad is much appreciated.
Rating wise... Vox vs Cool Ideas which one is better.

When it comes to fiber, people often blame the ISP for all their issues, when the problem is frequently the end mile fiber provider, and to a certain extent beyond the control of the ISP. I've been with Cool Ideas for around 18 months now and have had no real problems. From time to time, there is a small issue (typically every few months and lasting less than 20 minutes), which is usually resolved before I get a chance to put in a ticket. On one occasion, I had to go through support, it was around supper time on a Friday and the issue was resolved in 15 mins.

I notice on HelloPeter that one of the people complain about being billed after moving. I can't comment on that, as I never have and likely never will move. But if that person had contacted [MENTION=394133]PBCool[/MENTION] on this forum, I'm 100% certain the issue would have been resolved.

Have a look through the Cool Ideas thread. There not perfect, **** happens and they make mistakes. But the issues always get dealt with. Also, from time to time, I have seen posts on this forum from people that have moved to other providers only to find out that the other providers are significantly worse.

So to summarize, if you want an ISP that you can contact to resolve problems and a fast fiber line, go with Cool Ideas. Otherwise, go with Vox.

While looking at the different options Cool Ideas did seem to offer the most value for money. Now I just need to find out if free installation is part of their deal in my area. Vox do offer that.

If on Octotel the installation is free with us.
 
On Octotel with MacroLan 50/50 fibre uncapped in Plumstead... and it has been iffy and inconsistent with almost weekly issues.

Who else to try next? Going to do the ISP swap thing next... MacroLan has sucked my side.

We can assist you with Octotel and free Installation, Free IPv4 Static IP. IPv6 not available on Octotel yet but should be available in a few weeks time.

Thanks, apparently the parents signed up / got the process going at Melkbosstrand through other help/direction today. But @ VOX.
