Best Rechargeable batteries?

Yip. I made the mistake of buying the Uniross quick charger --- a beast that will charge 4 AAs in just 15 minutes. It works as advertised, but you can hear the batteries sizzle after charging them.

So while it is indeed possible to charge as set of AAs in 15 minutes, it usually kills them after only about 6 charge cycles! I killed about three different sets of batteries this way: Uniross, plain GP, and Recyco GP.

Incidentally, I really like the Recyco GPs for my speedlight --- they have no discernible self-discharge over a period of several months.
 
Clicks also have the Ernergizer's on special. Not sure which mAh though.
 
IMO the most interesting batteries at the moment are the 2400mAh Duracell low discharge batteries that have just come out.

They seem to be cheapest at Woollies. Some places are a complete rip-off, be careful what you pay.
 
Does anybody have any experience with CR-V3 type batteries? http://www.wholesaledigital.co.za/crv3combo.htm

My old Pentax K100D has a sticker inside the battery compartment stating you can use either AA or CR-V3 and I've been digging around for them.

They're lithium, so they should keep their charge. From what I've seen they generally have about 3 000 mAh (though the site I linked above doesn't specify).

Any thoughts?
 
I have used CR-V3 batteries, my old Olympus used those.

Great batteries, ideal for digital, but they used to be a bit expensive.

Sorry mate, but how much are they going for at WW. Could not find them.
 
Think they were R129.99 for 4 AA's, but cannot remember exactly what I paid.

It was in Woollies Food Umhlanga.

Have seen them elsewhere for R200, R170, etc.

Not home at the moment, will put up a product code later.

Thanks Jola, the one that i'm finding on the WW site does not look on the picture as the the right ones. Dono if this is what you mean. http://www.woolworths.co.za/store/f...uct-details-index.jsp?productId=5000394203853 At least on the picture does not look like 2400 NiMh battery, for example like this one.

But if it is the right one, the price is almost the same as in USA and is worth investing in them. BTW while we are on the subject, do you know what happened to Sanyo Eneloop (hope is right spelling) in SA. Why i don't see them in the shops anymore.

I haven't seen Eneloop's for a while in SA, and usually import mine when needed; still the best AA/AAA batteries imo.
 
Someone said that Sanyo battery division was taken over by Panasonic, so no more rechargeable Sanyo's.

Absolutely, best rechargeable batteries IMHO. Still got unopened AAA package somewhere around the house. That's why i asked, going to order some stuff from USA in the next few days and was thinking of bringing a set or two of eneloop as well. Regarding Panasonic taking over, dono but Sanyo is avail oversees. More likely they joint venture. Sanyo was much bigger in batteries then Pana in any case, with much advanced technology. That's why not sure who acquired who. Too lazy to google it at the moment.
 
Eneloops are available from RS Components. A bit pricy, but probably cheaper than importing.

Ok, managed to get some more at the Blubird Woolies food in Joburg, for R129.99.

Much cheaper at Woolies than anywhere else. Think they may have mistakenly priced them at the same price as an older line.

Make sure that you get the Duracell pre-charged, 2400mAh, 5 Year warranty.

The Duracell 2400's Part Number is 5000394057043.
