Best router for streaming Netflix

Ok, so I will try streaming through the Apple TV tonight. If that does not work, I will try a capped 300Gb option from axxess. Will update as I try and resolve the issue...

What router are you using though? LAN connection or WiFi? Your TV size?

Does the size of the TV influence the speed required to stream HD? I thought it should stay the same, as the resolution stays the same?

Using an Asus DSL-AC52U over WIFI. TV is Samsung 48". I don't get below 720p watching Netflix, often get 1080.

The TV size should not matter. Maybe try your Apple TV and see if it makes a difference.

BTW. I'm on VOX capped fatpipe.

But you want to switch from Axxess uncapped to Axxess capped, maybe try a small capped account from another ISP and see if that fixes it.

Vox said they will be announcing their new packages, since the IPC cost was reduced, sometime in the middle or by the end of this month, that might be something to look out for.
 
You can get free 1Gb data from most of the ISP's to test.

Thanks, I will try this after trying a capped option from Axxess, as they are managing the telkom line as well. How big issue is it to move the line to a different ISP? Edit - I see on the VOX website that the ADSL line can be with any service provider.

You shouldn't need to move your line. You can use any ISP with Axxess.
 
So I tried streaming Netflix trough Apple TV rather. It looks much better, with no quality drops. :D (So the Smart TV Netflix app and PS4 Netflix app are crappy)

I then only realized how big difference it makes using the different HDMI ports on the TV. Now the only issue is that my PS4 and Apple TV are competing for the HDMI 1 port on the TV, which is HDR enabled, meaning I need to switch cables regularly...

So I will see if a capped option from Axxess or Vox will improve the TV's Netflix app, allowing the PS4 to use the HDMI 1 port permanently.

Basically what happens when a lot of users are on a network it causes lag(delay) because your average router can only serve one device at a time (imagine you standing in a queue waiting to get helped ) but with MIMO it helps multiple devices at the same time (more queues = faster response)

Sure it will help to get faster Fiber/Adsl (that one queue will get served faster) but in the end it will still have delay .

So from what I can gather your stream gets interrupted by other devices requesting data

Thanks for the info, it makes sense. Are there cheaper MIMO routers than the TP Link D7?

I did yes, which does make me a bit reluctant to buy an expensive router. But I am willing to try and see if a better router makes a difference.
