Best streaming box

And you replied on all of those three explosions. If it didn't matter then perhaps /who cares? But internets 101.

I don't expect people to get so passionate .

I went for a car service the other day and the guy said 'your car doesn't have Android Auto, does it?'

I said 'no' .. and we moved on

Can't post it, eh ?

Must be like the 10th post you said you've put in my place / corrected me - and can't reference it ?
I know I’m on my phone and editing can be a pain sometimes, but can you point out what is false in my reply to you?

They keep talking about AV1 hardware encoding - unless it's both ?

As far as AV1 support on Android TV today, it’s already starting to expand. This codec requires newer hardware for the decoding process, which is why products that lack support, including Chromecast with Google TV, can’t simply get a software update to bring it. Notably, Sony’s new Bravia XR lineup, which runs Google TV supports AV1 decoding, as does the latest Amlogic S905X4 chip that’s being used in more streaming boxes.
You surely meant decoding instead of encoding.

But they are simply saying the hardware is too weak to support it, not that it requires specific hardware to make it work.

The Apple TV is far from weak and even the Apple TV HD might be able to support AV1, unlike H265 which did require hardware upgrade which is why it doesn't do it and why the 4K exists.

Either way, we should fine out in early June.

Is that the version that couldn't do 60fps ?
So same as this case, it's software limiting ?
They seem to say anything barring the A12 and above is too weak for 60fps ?
But Mi can do it on the old S905X?

Again, I'm just guessing as I see so many issues with YouTube in particular, from codecs / resolutions / frame rates

The new YouTube video playback in 4K at 60 fps is exclusive for the new Apple TV 4K with an A12 Bionic chip. The addition seems to work due to the YouTube video codec that requires enhanced processing power. If you are looking to upgrade or purchase a new one, this might be another major reason to get the Apple TV 4K.

Like I said, you can't hold Apple accountable for Google not coming to the party and building it out properly.

Never tried 60fps anything on the Apple TV HD so I can't comment. Again it's not really something of importance to me so hardly something I concern myself about.

It works fine on the Apple TV 4K.

*****

The Apple TV (HD) is ancient by now, so it shouldn't even be a topic of conversation. It's 10 years old.Sorry, 7 years old.

Though, it works on the 500+ million devices out there ... it is a bit odd it's not 'built out correctly'

Anyway - as I said earlier - I'm in agreement it's close as to the best as you can get. I'd prefer a fully working YouTube that can match any content I stream, though , and hopefully the next version can do that.

Well that's purely because Google want to punt their own devices as the better option, it's simply a power play.

But I also very much doubt that 500+ million devices statement all supporting HDR in 4K at 60fps.

HFR HDR is a pretty new thing and you must have HDMI 2.1 to use it which is definitely not on 500+ million devices.

Besides that, it's also a bit of a non-event. For media consumption I mean, for gaming and such it's a different story.

Unless you meant just 60fps sans HDR?

Sure, I'll do the work for you.

I really do not have a use for youtube in hdr as for example I watch lebe stark's kettle bell routines or helen renne's cooking shows

Thought you'd say that ;)

I get that often from iPhone users when they realize they have a limitation ; and then they prioritize what they can do.

Patronising BS of the highest order. And a complete insult to @Herr der Verboten

The obsession of non iPhone users with iPhones is remarkable. And so all consuming it even gets cited as a reason for your choice of tv box.

Wait - you can't see any similarity ?
Buying an expensive unit and not having x, y, z - but then then people saying they don't x, y or z ?

I don’t x y z and I have the capability. WTF does it have to do with owning an iPhone?

This was the end really. I have HDR YouTube and I don't watch it, so your assumptions are prejudices, of which every man and his dog know about. But no, you have to dig yourself out of your hole so on we go...

I'm saying the thinking is the same ?

I'm saying, and highlighting, that it's not. You are talking schit and using your own preconceptions to say that if you are an iPhone user then you don't mind compromising on other tech and AV kit. The insinuation is clear.

Then you start to deflect...
Why are you so hurt ?
What went wrong in your life that you get triggered so easily?

And it eventually goes south as you play the confused fool. But that doesn't really matter. you might ignore the facts and soldier on, but peeople have eyes and can read.

It may be more devices actually - my 3 year Samsung QLED is playing YouTube UHD HDR @ 60fps.

I always thought these smart TVs - especially old ones - had small processors? Or is Google just crippling Apple TV?

Oh.

This is the post that you walked all over me with facts?

OK.

I do believe my LG C7 also does it without issue.

But there are plenty of 4K devices out there that don’t even support HDR to start with, never mind HDMI 2.0 and 60fps.

We can’t assume every person has the top end device at home. The average is a piece of **** Sinotec or some such.

And plenty that do (ie Mi S for R999.00).

So is it horsepower or Google crippling devices? I'm not sure of the answer (though, I'd suspect neither)

I don't, however, see any issue with me pointing out the issues for OP to any hardware and letting him make his own mind up.

I reckon it’s a bit of a pissing contest at its roots.

Some of it is purely hardware and age.

Much like Amazon that doesn’t sell any Apple products.

by the way....how's the Realme 4K Smart Google?
I recently got a realme phone, and it's awesome
