Best tech deals this weekend

What! No smartphones or tablets (like Black Friday)? Only item that interests me is the Nike watch. Although it's cheaper at Nike store.

Yes. Wasn't good. Bought one for my dad for R8k two years ago from Algoabay Coffee in Pretoria. The guy there said it looked like a very awesome brand - German designed, very compact and good looking with great features. Made one hell of an espresso. The shop usually sells only Jura machines.

My dad used it for a year and then threw it out. The shop stopped carrying Severin soon after.

Can't remember exactly what went wrong - will find out if you wish.

That SSD appears to be good deal - the cheapest 120G SSD I could find is the Samsung 840 Evo for R200 more (excluding any shipping costs)

Oh, tip for those buying SSD's, mostly they come without an adapter tray - Cafe Java sells a 2.5 to 3.5 tray for R49 (incl VAT)

Bought one of these on the special for a desktop PC. It has been a worthwhile upgrade. It did not come with an adapter tray (or even a box). Just the SSD in a plastic sleeve.

The reviews on the drive are positive. No headline specs, but it seems that it maintains transfer rates better than a lot of other drives.

Did it come with some management software?

The Samsung comes with a data migration, settings and firmware checker / update tool.

PS: that tray from Cafe Java accommodates two SSDs

I did not check what software was on the drive, just stuck it in and installed Linux on it. Any pre-existing software was obviously of no interest in this process.

The Seagate site for this SSD lists DiscWizard as an applicable download for cloning and replacing existing drives.

Dont bother with the SSD, incredible connection does not have stock of it. I dont know why it was advertised in the first place.

Yip, I was at a branch yesterday to have a closer look (they said it's an a external drive) and also said they are waiting for suppliers to open again. Sounded like they have been out of stock for a while, so I too wonder why they even bothered advertising. I guess to get people into the store.
