Would be interested in knowing this. I have Telkom WiMax which have been MORE than happy with BUT now they are "busy on the tower in your area" and so no internet for over a week!!! Now the interesting thing i noticed before it went off, and using newgroups, I used to get around 58kb/s MAX when downloading. I have noticed, in the last 3 weeks - excluding the week just past - i have been getting up to 92kb/s. SO - question is has the WiMax speeds increased with Telkom??
Please let this be true. Also, they must start "selling" it again.
I agree. Purchasing the CPE, paying for installation and then still the monthly fee of WISPs are just 2 much. I am however gonna talk with whomever phones me back that can supply wireless internet and ask then if they can't do like a 24month contract thingy, where you pay monthly for the CPE and internet access...
I had telkom wimax in the past and it was perfect for me for online gaming and I am sure it will still be, but alas... we can't get it.![]()
Well i will be interested who you go with - which area of Midrand are you? I was lucky - i got my WiMax via WHO i knew - i did the 2010WC and was IT Venue Manager for Soccer City so built up some GOOD contacts in Telkom and that is the ONLY way i managed to get it.
Try DC Connect (http://www.dcconnect.co.za), they've got good coverage in Centurion. You also get a 50% Discount on equipment and installation, if you sign up for Uncapped Unshapped Wireless Internet. Prices are as follows: 384K = R499 p/m, 512K = R699 p/m and 1Mb = R1,299 p/m.
I am in noordwyk.
Then why did you only get a 512 connection...?![]()
NOW THAT is a GREAT question - alas - I had to go with what the infrastructure supported and even they said it may never be increased![]()
It's a pitty to see such a great service that isn't taken further. It's the ONLY real alternative to adsl I have ever seen...
