Best Value Nvidia Gfx Card

yeah, rather buy 1 card every 2 years at R2000 than 4 cards at R500 every 6 months.

at least with the R2000 your games will play better the first year, than the cheap **** cards.

I learned this the hard way. went from a 6500gt, to a 8500gt, and then to a 4870X2.

cheap cards are a waste of money.

Esquire's heads up for graphics cards for next week.

Flippen Good point! almost forgot. looking at their current specials there should be awesome deals next week.

Ok this is just my opinion here so dismiss it or whatever....but a cheap graphics card defeats the purpose because you can't actually play games on it. Ok I know it's expensive, and I know it constantly needs upgrading anyway so it's a royal pain, but if you want to play PC games you want to do it at good settings and high resolutions, and you don't want your equipment to need replacing in five months because a game comes out that is unplayable on your machine.

Got all the componets for a pc but no gfx card and there is no on-board....

so just need somthing to get it going..

what is a9600gs

I recently bought a 9600GT XFX card, must say, it handles everything I want it to handle sofar, was R1500 two months ago, I see it's R1300 now. Overall? Happiness.

don't get a "GS" card it stands for "the Graphics Suck"

seriously though....don't get a GS. ever.

The best graphics card for under R1000 is the 4670.

Never go 6500gt to 7500gt to 8500gt, rather go up on the second digit as that is what determines the cards power. The first digit is just the series and not really that important unless there is a major rework.

ie 6500gt to 7600gt etc even going 6500gt to 6800gt is a much better option than a 7500gt

well i got the 8500gt for very cheap - my friend got a few from someone who works at ASUS or something before you could even buy them in the shops, and told me he'd sell me two for R700.

I thought R700 for a SLi Setup was a pretty good deal....I didn't ever see the 2nd card he promised - but hey.

don't even know if they can SLi even, now that I think about it, lol, but yeah....

my advice would be to stay away from x400gt/gs, x500gt, and even x600gt cards.

Well I won my 8500GT here so not displeased at all.
Though in hindsight I could've gone higher  :D

I have one of those and you can now pick them up for about R1000.

Overclocks to the moon.

I got a great card - A Sapphire 4850 512mb from PC International for R1099 + vat. Plays all my games at highest settings and it looks fantastic! Worth the extra money.

I'd also go with a 4850 the nVida part would be a 8800 GTX. I used to have a 8800 GTX and it ran like hell! So I think R99 more is ok for a 4850.
