Better ADSL pricing promised through IPINX

Unfortunate Typo RPM, we already know that Internet Access is Run by Tarts and Pimps, that just confirms it :)
Freudian Slip there from my side ;)

The guys behind this initiative are cool, and I think a few innovative offerings will be on its way. It will however depand on the uptake of the service by smaller ISPs...

While acknowledging the risk of being laughed at for optimistic thinking, what impact would LLU have on a business like this?

I suppose that LLU would still really only be for the big players, since you would need hardware in the exchanges to take advantage of it. So, those that invest in hardware could then resell access using an equivalent to IP Stream or IP Connect to smaller players at a cheaper rate than Telkom itself is prepared to, and likely still make a decent profit without being ridiculous.

Seems like everyone is benefiting from lower prices except Neotel consumer clients.:(

Don't feel too bad about it. You are doing a public service. By remaining on Neotel you make all of those on ADSL feel a lot better about their connections. I myself frequently say "You know what, ADSL is quite expensive, but then again at least I am not on Neotel". :D :p

The hardware is peanuts, the real cost of LLU is the required (fibre based) backhaul. Gets mighty expensive when you add up all the Kms to even the top 10% of metro area exchanges.

Very funny :-(

I'm sorry I couldn't help myself. I honestly do feel for the guys on Neotel. I was seriously considering them when they first rolled out but I waited to see how they got running. I am so glad I waited.

Rather give us uncapped accounts at ultra low cost!

+10

talking about lower prices in wholesale doesn't mean anything cause ISP's sell to us at prices that they are going to get max profit for themselves.....:twisted:

You may want to check MyBroadband tommorow - the IPINX service is tarting to have an effect already ;)

Bugger, and here I was thinking that tarts were only used to promote fast cars and beer. Will duly be waiting for an annoucement ;)

I hope the "others" can offer something a little more exciting than R45 - R55 a gig.

Why R45 - R55/gig? We already got R29 and R24/gig offerings. It must be under 10bucks/gig. I think most ppl will gladly pay R10/gig. R200 for 20gig is good enough for me until i can get uncapped.

at that price who needs uncapped(talking about 384 users)

This is why contracts are such utter bs. Even though prices change, you pay the same. Unless prices increase, then you pay more obviously. lol

yeah... arent there other providers offering local for R8.50 /gb?
