How do these work? I assume they somehow shorten the local loop, or is this just added capacity?

I think it has more to do with capacity! From what i understand, FIBER>NEW THINGYS>COPPER TO US! ;P

Just have to wait 500 years for them to come to PE! I really want 10meg!

Sounds promising and gives me hope that I can get an ADSL line installed in Midrand. Still no word from Telkom about any ports opening up but I'm hoping it it won't be long.

...been more than 8 months now and counting. Still no 10mbs and everything is *just* lying around. Job well done.

it will sync at adsl 2+ if your on new tech, your upload will be 507 and not 512 on a 4mb and 1mb line, on a 384 its 123 upload i think , and your modem tells you if you are using adsl2+ , or should tell you

Make sure your modem is set to use Auto modulation and not forced for gmt.

That will depend on the ZTE Mzanzi court case, which set it back by 2 months already. The recent court ruling at least allows them to carry on until the court date.

Definitely a step in the right direction It's taken a while but the local internet space is fast getting its act together.

Telkom seriously pisses me off, how about upgrading severly congested exchanges first!
