Beware Table Mountain!

The you have been extremely lucky and very poorly advised. To say that there is no crime in Germany and that you do not have to take care in Moz is ridiculous and a veru irresponsible thing to advocate.

I did not advocate anything, I merely stated that I was not warned about crime by their consulates. In Africa you always have to be careful, it's common sense. I also, did not say that there is no crime in the countries I mentioned. There is crime everywhere, but I think it's exceptionally bad if travel offices start warning travelers about the crime.

Of course there's crime in Germany but it doesn't even begin to compare with the crime levels in SA, and yes I have been there.

There is also crime throughout the rest of the world( except a very few areas that are still untouched. Large parts of Swizterland for example). Tourists need to be just as wary when going to these parts as they do when the come to SA.

Yes there is crime everywhere but the violence/seriousness of the crime and the probability of it occurring is much less, fact is you have to be MUCH less careful in most other places. Do you think the type of security SA suburbs have is normal?

When i traveled to Italy [Rome specifically] i got plenty of warnings from friends/locals [and people in germany] who travelled there about muggings and pickpockets. .

If we only had a problem with thieves trying to pickpocket I doubt most people will go on about crime as they currently do.

In our lovely country theres a bigger chance of being killed in some violent way and MAYBE your cellphone stolen afterwards.

No, I do not. As mentioned before, I agree that crime in SA is out of hand and something needs to be done. I am merely saying that there is also crime in other places too, and people should not try to make out as if it only occurs here.

I think it's only right to alert overseas people of what's actually happening here about the crime and not leading them to believe that every things Sunny skies, braais and cheverolet and not to worry that every things under control like they telling us because it's not. Tourists have a right to know that things here are not what they seem to make it out to be. Obviously we cannot stop them from coming to visit and touring S.A. Sure which is great! for them and for us BUT they should at least be given pamphlets when entering the country as to what dangers they should look out and prepare themselves for. That way they'll have a good time and go home safely hence where they came
