Beware when ordering from RARU...

Yeah fnb reversed money from paypal, even know i send it as friends and family. Guy never send the item, so they refunded me.
 
You need a new bank - I've only ever had that with ABSA.
actually I'm trying to do a chargeback with FNB now and just got wad of forms sent to me to either email back to them or drop off at a branch.
 
So how can a company not refund money for something they never shipped? I would imagine the problem to be;

1. They're running at an insane loss and any income paid gets eaten up by debt until they can recover enough to pay the person back?
2. They're keeping it all in an investment account and stalling for as long as possible to maintain interest.
3. Someone (or more than one) is stealing the money and coming up with excuses.
 
I don't think they're holding the money to earn quick interest, I think it's more likely that they simply have a cashflow problem. When they pay money over to the supplier and the supplier fails to honour the order, I don't think retailers are immediately refunded. Suppliers tend to drag their feet.

This is where I think the cashflow problem lies.

Like you said, all refunds are processed eventually. When it's a few hundred rand, that's all fine and well, but when it's thousands, that could lead to some sleepless nights for the customer.
Probably true. Interest rates are very low these days anyway

They advertise products as "in stock", after I placed order for 2 GPU's, I was "advised" that there is no stock...
Been trying without luck to get a refund since February.

Request a chargeback from your bank.
 
Took a chance and ordered a small item from Raru (they were the cheapest).
let's see.....

Considering this thread exists, and others like it - and the experience I've had with them - I'm inclined to believe he's not talking crap.

Well look at trends on myBB. You can read some of the Afrihost threads and they are mostly negative, but it does not mean they are all bad.
 
As mentioned before....the issue is when you require a refund.
if that’s the case wait time is 6 weeks.

I had to wait for 6 weeks , R5000 refund....so will never purchase something big from them.
but I did purchase 2 sd cards last week....took a chance, but worst case I will get a refund in 6 weeks

Why should I come crying ? I've never dissed any company on this forum. Deal with your problems rather than just posting bad things.

This is people dealing with their problems and warning others to stay away. If this was/is an isolated incident then we'll find out at some point, but hate to say it but Raru seems to be going downhill from the number of complaints they've gotten, here and elsewhere.

It's like all the people who complained about Evetech being great in terms of being cheap, but if stuff breaks you're stuffed. People should have access to info like that.

There is no way to "deal" with this problem other than to avoid Raru all together or go in forewarned that if your order can't be fulfilled you will need to wait 4-6 weeks to get your money back.

For someone with a limited budget and in urgent need of something this situation can be a pretty serious predicament to be in.

Say you need a laptop for work or college, Raru takes your money but then there's no stock and they pointblank refuse to refund for 6 weeks, leaving the desperate customer stranded, out of pocket to look elsewhere.

I must be the lucky 1% .. of all the times they had stock issues and offered a refund I got it back within 2-3 days

I'm currently also have issues with a very well known respectable company, but I will never call them a scam which is a harsh. Yes there are some fly-by-night operations out here. But Raru founded Take2 from what I recall which now is Takealot.
