Bid or buy frustrations

I absolutely wouldn't let this go. Do you still have the email where BoB said they would refund you if the seller didn't cooperate? I would phone them on 0861 88 0861 rather than email. As far as I'm concerned it's their screw up if they released the funds before confirming the transaction was settled as they were made aware of the issue.

After MagicDude4Eva escalated this for me I received a response on my query.
The operations manager reckons that payments to the seller stopped after my money was paid over.

I copied the content of the previous e-mail and asked him to explain it to me if my money was paid over before the sellers account was flagged. Still waiting for a response.

I have kept all the e-mails relating to situation.

I would normally blame myself for being silly and move on. However in this case BoB picked something up but still transferred the money when they said they would not.

Looked at your tickets as well and we will fix this for you - in that specific case this was an operational/training issue and should have not happened the way it turned out. Our ops manager will give you detailed feedback during the course of the morning.

Thanks again for getting me some feedback on the issue.
I'll await feedback from the operations manager.

I appreciate the effort but also do not see the need to go to the lengths of such complaints to receive a response. Fair enough apologies were made but now this matter is already in the public eye.

Will report back here on how this ends up good or bad.

Glad to see things are starting to go in the right direction. :)

Hope everything gets sorted.

Hey, why did you edit out part of my post? It wasn't meant to be racist. I've had problems on BoB and Ebay when buying from China, or locally from people of that demographic. Bidorbuy has my emails and I'm still waiting for an answer.

Unlucky there since I haven't had problems with buying from China using Ebay.

A while ago, there was a guy selling ps3’s on bid or buy.
His rating at the time was just above 90%(it is much lower now) and I thought I would give it a go as I have examined the negative ratings and it was all from the same buyer, I thought it might have been an exception.

What a pain it has turned out to be though. The seller seemed to come up with a lot of excuses after payment was made.
He said that Bid or Buy did not want to release my money to him and therefore he cannot deliver my PS3.

I then queried this with BoB to verify and it was indeed true, this was their exact response:
“Hi *****

Thank you for your email. We are busy with the seller with regards to this, we have advised the seller that he needs to send the items off to the buyers, we will keep you posted with the proceedings of this, if the seller doesn't want to cooperate we will be refunding you. I do apologise for the inconvenience caused to you with regards to this. If you have any queries please don't hesitate to ask. Have a nice day.”

To which I responded:
“Hi,

Thank you for the response.
This is a good service and fully understood.
Thank you for looking out for the customers.

Kind regards,
**********”

Subsequent to this, I felt rather comfortable with the deal, knowing that BoB would not release the money until the goods were sent.
My response to the seller was to tell him that BoB have issues with him and he should sort that out with them.

I then proceeded to make a second purchase from the seller knowing (well thinking) that the money won’t be paid over unless the goods are sent.

Then when everything went South with the seller, I requested a refund and BoB informed me that they will refund my second purchase (which I have since received), but I have to obtain the refund for my first purchase from the seller as they have paid the money over. I was rather upset, as their e-mail indicated that they would not pay any money to the seller.

I accepted it and waited out the time frame for my refund (30 days).
Now that I have received no further communication, I e-mailed the seller as well as BoB (multiple times) and no response from either of them.
The seller might be dodging his responsibility but I find it very disappointing that BoB is not even responding.
I have since stopped using BoB, it is a pity that I had to lose money to make this decision.

Should I pursue this any further or just accept is as school fees for dealing with them.
I have had positive experiences as well, I just feel that BoB dropped the ball here after informing me that they would not pay any money over and still turn around and do that.

How much did he want for the ps3 console?

How much did he want for the ps3 console?

It was an auction, which ended at R1400 + R150 for delivery.

Update:
The operations manager has been in touch, and admitted to a mistake on their side.
The mistake was however not related to paying over the money, it was the fact that customer care informed me that the money was not paid over when in fact it has been. Due to that e-mail, which they promised me a refund they decided to stick to their promise even though the information was incorrect.
A refund has been processed, which I am happy with.
I commend them for admitting to an error, and correcting it accordingly.
There was not much of a back and forth either. The only difficulty was getting a response, which MagicDude4eva sorted out, so I am glad I posted it here.

^^^

I like how they say the information was incorrect, and they'll do you the favour of refunding you.

They had no option, they had presented you with a legal document stating a certain thing... regardless of whether it was incorrect or not from their end, they would be required to refund you.

Well maybe I made it come across incorrectly, see for yourself:
"Dear *****

I have read the excerpt from ***** and she did not provide the correct information to you (this was almost 2 weeks after your first order) - I do apologise for this. We have discussed the issue here amongst the management team and will be refunding you as that is what we stated in the email to you from *****."

Well that must be a first... an actual refund.

I am pleasantly surprised.

Somebody @BOB is out of R1.5k or a job :erm:

Or BoB simply writes it off as a loss, and deduct it from tax. Thumbsuck math says that this will cost them not much more than about R900.

So far never had any issues but am rather careful about the sellers and also do not buy anything worth more than R1K on there.
