The people on the bridges is part of the local community, the local community is not affected negatively by these incidents, so they won't do anything. They would in fact probably just join the looting if a truck crashes for example.

So for "communities to take action", communities from the affected people must come and raze the communities around the bridges?

Anyway.. happened to me a while back near Lanseria driving on the on ramp to the N14 Towards Pretoria, guy jumps out from the shoulder (long grass) and chucks a rock the size of a basketball at my then Ranger Bakkie. Luckily i swerved and it hit the passenger side which was empty, but there was glass and pieces of rock everywhere also a massive chunk on the bonnet.

Also similar area just before Total Garage on N14 driving Home from George, WC. There was a boulder placed on the road just before the bridge on a hill, saw it too late straight over luckily just bent some of the sub frame and broke a chunk out of the differential of the Ranger bakkie..

Hope the police starts taking some action against these criminals..

I seriously wonder if a civilian shot one of these fskers if a case of self defense would hold up.

Definitely not, you would have to shoot him while he throws the rock on your car while driving. Good luck doing that.

SADF used to do that on the Umgababa bridge over the N2 in the mid eighties the stone throwing stopped after a few sniper hit's

Well, I'm not referring only to their immediate community, but to the community at large. So if you throw a rock at my car, and I stop, and then I stab you with the big knife I keep in my drivers door, then I should not be in to much crap.

Shows you how long this has been going on, and that apartheid wasn't the reason since we're 24 years into democracy already.
