Golf 7 GTI sunroof saves man from rock throwing

Durban - The latest victim of rock throwing has the sunroof of his brand new Golf 7 GTI to thank for escaping without a scratch.

Farhaad Mohamed, 45, was on the way home from work on Saturday afternoon when a rock was thrown onto his barely two month old vehicle from a bridge above Higginson Highway.

“Had I been even one second slower that boulder would have hit my windscreen and I would have been gone,” he said on Sunday.

Mohamed said he realised what had happened only some time later as he had continued to drive on after hearing a loud bang.

Africa seldom disappoints, what an absolute joke this place has become..

Why haven't they put these .......... in cages yet.? Or at least then put a cage over the bridges. Useless government....

They must cage all bridges then. Not feasible in my opinion.

Sheesh it's becoming a pandemic, what exactly are these morons planning to achieve? You might get a cellphone and maybe some cash? WTF!!! This is a symptom of a really inept government and people with such callous regards for human life, I normally don't call on the death penalty but it needs to come back. They need to have Casspirs rolling through the streets again putting fear back into these "people" because I'm sorry you cannot call them people when they act like this.

Death penalty + Corrupt Government = Criminals won't be the ones dying

Start with the ones in the 'hot spots'. Why not?

Caging the bridges won't work, they will just cut through them. If they only put as much effort into actually fixing things they put into trying to steal and rob people this country would actually benefit. But no they'd spend days cutting at a fence, cage, gate to get maybe a few thousands rand. Nothing is really impenetrable to them, they are like vermin they will always find a way through.

Death penalty + Corrupt Government = Criminals won't be the ones dying

Normal citizens are already dying because of them? There is already a death penalty and it's not effecting the criminals at all. There needs to be something that can strike fear into these things.
