Big revelation in WirelessG vs Vodacom case

Vodacom decided to terminate this retail agreement because it only generated R20,000 in WirelessG product sales, which means that the payment of R300,000 for this service did not make financial sense.

And not too long ago :

This clause, said WirelessG CEO Carel van der Merwe, means that Vodacom is obliged to offer WirelessG’s Wi-Fi as an integral part of its data bundles. This has not happened.

So Vodacom didn't do their work and are now complaining that they aren't seeing return on investment?

(Unless the retail agreement Vodacom is talking about is something other than those services)

Maybe WirelessG would not have been in this predicament of loss making and loss of revenue if VC actually delivered on their agreements and have taken WirelessG's Wi-Fi to the market the way they should have - bundling it with 3G as per the previous articles! Shame on you Vodascum!

Has anyone actually ever used WirelessG? Their service is shocking and for someone who still charges R180/GB (Wifi) or R280/GB (3G) it is amazing that they even lasted the long. I don't agree with what VC does most of the time, but I do think they should have booted them long time ago. It's because of companies like WirelessG that the broadband market in SA is in the current state. Good on VC to get rid of a greedy company (they should have done the same with iBurst, GatewayComms etc)
 
Ok, what am I missing here? Does this "revelation" make any difference to Vodacom going against their contract?

More a case of there are always three sides to a story. WirelessG went Wild-West and shot from the hip. Vodacom responded. And somewhere in the middle lies the truth.
 
Really this revelation looks more like a PR exercise than anything else... fact is Vodacom did not fulfil their side of the contract!

I'm still behind WirelessG on this one!

To me the "big revelation" still reads that Vodacom was the douche!

Yes it's about money but it's brought about Vodacom not keeping their side of the contract.

Almost like the school bully saying the only reason he's reporting me to the headmaster is because I've been taking his lunch money. :sick:

have you seen the official contract between the two companies where it states that Vodacom MUST do this?

don't jump the gun till you actually see the legal wording. Wireless G had 5 years to act and only now they want to do something...sounds fishy or the CEO of wireless G is just lazy and ignant.

The point of an open forum is that everyone gets to give their opinion, be it wrong or right... if we were to wait to see these legal documents before formulating an opinion, we'd never have an opinion!

They're all available as public documents at the court, where I assume myBB and the other journos got them. So you can get the actual documents, read them and revert here.

General observation: don't agree at all with giving a view-point "right or wrong". Rather it should be an INFORMED viewpoint, if possible. I.e. get the facts (in this case they're available) and then you have the power of facts to work with and no speculation is needed.

This is unfortunately a case of right/wrong if Vodacom didn't live up to its side of the contract.
