Big things happening at Nokia...

If you need a new phone, what are you doing in the Windows Phone thread? :wtf:

A new Windows Phone might be the best second hand phone you can buy, but if you need a new phone, you need to go to the Android thread. :)
:D

My bad. Which fork to the Android thread?

What does it help if Nokia keeps releasing handset after handset, but the OS is still not ready for prime time?

Imagine the Lumia 928 was running Android 4.2.2 - I can promise you now that Nokia would not have been able to keep up with stock. ;)

GET RID OF ELOP!!!!

Have you held a 920 before? It is about the heaviest phone out there. Honestly if it wasn't running Windows people wouldn't be curious enough and just wouldn't buy it. Unless they really need that camera. It is big, heavy and clunky.

They're launching the Lumia 925

Dam that N9 was a cool phone :(

Fact... I was so going for this but was so bummed that they dropped the OS... :(
That's the only reason I gave the Lumia 800 any look coz it had the body of the N9...
But I'm actually enjoying it quite alot... (except for whatsapp being broken as hell)

Yeah, WhatsApp sux on WP. My symbiam had a better WhatsApp.

I can't even send a song on my WP7.8 WhatsApp - WTF! And its so damn slow.

I guess they'll improve it with time.

Also, I was quite disappointed by this week's Nokia announcements. The 925 is a great update to Nokia's flagship, but I really expected more.

What happened to the EOS, the Max, phablet and tab? I guess this will all come after 'Amber' and 'Blue'.

Meanwhile... sent in my Lumia 800 for repairs a week ago...
Got replaced with a 820 :D suddenly I'm on WP8 :p

Who, wha... Where did you get your replacement? Which network, which retailer?

You think they'll give me a 620 for my 610?

Congrats. 820 rocks. Nokia rock if that's how they roll.

Vodacom all the way, dunno entirely why though, they just said they sent the 800 to Nokia themselves.
Personally I think it might be an attempt to either get the 7.x people to WP8 or to give back to the fact that they screwed over early adopters...

How you finding the 820? Too bulky? Waiting for my Red 720 to arrive and I'll be in heaven. Still going to use my L800 for the radio.

Yeah sucks that the 820 don't have Radio :/(or is it a WP8 thing?)
So far liking the 820 alot... because I'm current again(in terms of OS)
Doesn't feel bulky really, but definitely bigger and some getting used to, and I still prefer the Lumia 800 in my hand(still think thats the perfect fit in one's hand).
Liking the screen actually lol.
The 820 much thinner than the 800 though. Things I have extra compared to the Lumia 800 are WP8, NFC, LTE, dual core?, 1080p recording, super sensitive touch(aka winter touch) and that Memory slot people seem to make a fuss about.

I'm gonna try take mine back. It freezes everytime my 3 year old plays with it. I check the multitasking and see there are about 12 apps open at the same time, which I guess is way too much for the 256MB processor.

You think MTN will give me a 620 replacement for that. I can even do with a 520. Also, my phone is not right because it doesn't have Kids Corner.

Can it even open 12 apps? I'm pretty sure the limit is like 5 or 6?
Anyways you can try lol, maybe I just got lucky(could also be a refurbished phone I got lol)

Sources: Not only Nokia EOS. Nokia Tablet too in trials at AT&T and in other markets

nokia-lumia-tablet.jpg

The main points of the story:
- Tab to be released either with EOS (on 9 July) or after EOS (to coincide with Samsung Galaxy Note release - i.e. opening of sales),
- Is currently in trails at AT&T (and in other markets - see title of post) and
- Was seen running with an Adidas app.

I feel this rumor is 7/10 true because Acer has just announced an 8.1" tablet and I've always felt Nokia would release a tablet either as a phablet or a small tablet, since they are primarily a cell phone OEM, and not a PC OEM.

However, my only concern is that even though they will be releasing a small tablet (8" category), they will be targeting the higher price point, which has always been their approach when introducing a flagship product. So, I expect the Nokia 8" tab to cost around US$500 or more.

Nokia comeback signs in Q2 2013, which I could not ignore...

There are a few reports that say that Nokia is going to give a profit warning following an assessment that Nokia is not going to meet its sales forecasts for Q2 2013. These I saw in mid to late May.

Now (early June) however, I am seeing more and more reports that speak of how well Nokia's Lumia's are doing, apparently. So, I am a little bit confused as to what to believe really of Nokia's Q2 2013 fortunes.

Nevertheless, there are more compelling reports of a Nokia comeback than there are of poor Q2 sales.

I have compiled a few. Here they are;

1. Lumia WP8 devices take 13 out of top 20 selling positions (1st rank as well) at Expansys USA!!

2013-06-03#Nokia Comeback signs 1.JPG

Amongst the top 20 are the 820 and 920 too. All the Lumias are competing with the GS4 basically.

2. MAU for “Nokia account” shows 45% increase in month of May (52% in last two months). Comeback time!!

3. Elop: Positive Impact of chosing WP to be felt for the first time!! Aggressive product introductions in rest of 2013.

4. More growth for WP (Nokia) in UK, Germany, France, Italy and Australia. 8.4% in GB

The only thing is, these stories are all from pro-Nokia websites.
