Biggest bandwidth hogs on Afrihost’s network

Seems to me that calling Afrihost's top data users (i.e. customers) "data hogs" is extremely rude and disrespectful.

Used to think it was ridiculous till I started klapping 400 Gigs a month just streaming Showmax, NEtflix and Kodi on my 8 Meg line.

Can easily see someone breaking 1 TB streaming 1080p content.

It's just envy really. With a 3G connection at 30% signal strength I just wish I could be in that league.
J/K :)

I was at a buddy's place last weekend who has a 20Meg line...he just so happens to be a p0rn addict as well. he showed me a 1TB harddrive with 700Gigs worth of p0rn on, so I asked him how long it took, he told me two weeks!

Yea I got to agree with this.

I am on 3g aswell but with 4k stuff coming out and youtube supporting it as well.
2tb on a 10meg line is nothing if the house hold is streaming and gaming

Especially given that ten of the twelve users listed were running business uncapped accounts.

My household used 2TB last month. Big family, lots of 1080p and 4K streaming, 4K downloads, lots of PC and PS4 game downloads and unlimited online backup via Backblaze all adds up very quickly. Especially on a 100Mbps connection.

On Crystal Web btw, not Afrihost.

100mbps connection should be the norm not long from now! I have a 20mbps connection and that is ok for HD streaming. I can't be bothered with 4k streaming at the moment because my hardware is not upgraded for 4k. Besides, 4k content is still a bit limited and is there really such a big difference between 1080p and 4k?

The difference is minimal if your source sucks (e.g. torrents <5GB). A long series episode should be around 20GB and a film should be 30-50GB. 4K Blu-ray and 4K Netflix are the ideal sources. 4K Youtube can be good sometimes, but there is often colour banding for some reason, perhaps as a result of the uploader not being clued up about what quality and format to upload for the best results.

But when it's done right, 4K is a big improvement over 1080p. The difference comes in with HDR more than the resolution possibly, but all that matters is that together the effect is incredible.

Are they still doing this? Thought most ISPs forgot and moved on, you cannot call someone a data hogger if they are using what they are paying for.
