[Billed for very high data usage]

The most frustrating part is the fact that they charged me on days I never used that particular sim card and I still have to prove they are wrong.
They are in for a fight.

I agree,this is horrendously frustrating.
Dont just accept this,I did not.(not that it helped much, full amount was taken anyhow..) I was given credit..Im hoping it will reflect at the end of this month..

hey guys just thought i will let you know a very nice lady from vodacom from the md's office called and offered a 50% discount on the bill, at least thats something and they take the time to make the effort for which I really appreciate. Thanks again vodacom3g and bob 2000 for your help.

Dhez : I didn't do anything, oh oh I get it, because I didn't do anything, you must be thinking that I work for Vodacom, sorry man, no affiliation to the beast..

lol oh i thought v3g said u helped

i guess it was hello peter, i suggest u try using it bob

Bob2000 you actually made me laugh on your sad little story. i find it very amusing even though its not. vodacom as a whole should be ashamed of the type of service they provide to customers. if they could at least inform customers on a regular basis the status of the query then ppl won't rant at them like beasts.

I know how you feel Bob, i also had a problem when i bought my prepaid sim for activation, which took a couple off weeks. I find it very strange you taking everything so calmly like its a joke. believe me would never ever want to go through something like that. best way is to go prepaid and then you know when you go offline your data bundle is exausted and needed to be topped up.

V3G, Iam3G, IC. guys i give you thumbs up for what you are doing in this forum. Where and what will vodacom do without you guys.

Just 1 query V3G, i am still waiting on you guys to setup my antenna as promised. please keep me updated for this not to go the"BOB200" situation and then calling you the "BEAST", jusk kidding LOL

BOB2000 hang in their broe, im holding thumbs up and legs crossed
:D

I asked for this a long time ago, and it's seriously grinding on my nerves when i read about people getting these crazy-ass billing surprises.

I had mine too [on MTN] , main reason was MTN could not tell me -IN ADVANCE- what's going on, if i didn't lock my simcard away it would've done serious damage to my finances..

Fact of the matter is, Vodacom and MTN needs to get their crappy contract systems sorted out. For the amount of money they are making, it's unacceptable how we can't manage, monitor and control our accounts properly.

I want to :

1. Set my own limits. I don't want to phone someone every time. If a banking site can do this in TWO CLICKS, then my goodness a telecoms company should be able to do it 10 times better. There's no excuse for not having this.

2. I want alerts whenever i want them based on my own criteria. If i want to be notified every 100MBs then charge me , just make the service...i pay for exactly this to protect my credit card account [which have much smaller limits on them than what my Vodacom/MTN accounts can go into......!] .

3. MTN/Vodacom can at least -try- to get a proper analysis system on their end. I mean come on , if a BANK can pick up i'm doing an "abnormal" transaction within minutes and phone me , why can't Telecoms? The fact that i read people who have a regular R500 p/month bill suddenly getting a R10k-R20k bill...what the hell? At a bank this would've sent red flags off all over the show BEFORE the customer even knew about it.... I mean seriously, if someone with 1GB bundle downloads 5GB in one day OUT-of-bundle, what crap system it must be not to pick this up and at least send a warning or -something- out ?

4. Real time , real time , real time...contracts are currently the worst possible option if you want to control and manage your data usage. It can ruin you, you can't see anything in real time, that's also why Voda/MTN can't provide proper mechanism to monitor your usage -NOW- [not 3 days later when the damage is done, NOW...] .

Anyway i've experienced both Voda and MTNs systems, had my fair share of billing errors on both sides...so i know BOTH are equally bad with this.

All you points are actually summed up in the last one, i.e. (the lack of) real-time systems for contract.

Getting there.....

The lack of realtime data usage monitoring for CDBs, and the fact that there is no hard-capping for CDBs, are the 2 primary reasons why I absolutely refuse to use CDBs - it's a sore point for me since I have a need for DataSIM but it's not available on pre-paid :(.

Can implementing RDUM for CDBs not be given a higher priority...?

Can I recommend an architect and some developers, this just looks like terrible systems design......
