Hi Billion Tech

The 5102S looks great. Is it available yet? Both Jump and Digital Planet currently only have the 5100SM for sale (not even the 5100S)--I assume they're trying to get rid of old stock.
Hi Saber

It should be available from next week - the shipment is arriving on Wednesday (tommorrow)

Would they be able to supply the 5102S if we gave them a phone call? Or if you gave them a phone call? :D
Not yet, only from next week.

You also mentioned in a previous post that the 5102S would sell at the same price as the 5100S, any way you can ensure that your resellers honour this?
The oline shops for sure - they have a fixed mark-up. For the rest of the dealers, we can only recommend, but the chances are good. Just remember that the 5100S was on a special the last month or so.

Also, the Where-to-Buy page is still not up. Any idea when we can expect that?
Have a look now. It is still not all the dealers, but will be completed before Wednesday (tommorrow) evening.

I hope this helps.

Ok,

My friend got his 5100S,

Didn't get any manual with it or CD??

Is that normal. The box was already open??

Anycase, he got the manual from the net, got the ip, but couldn't get the web interface to open. he will try again tonight. He was able to ping the modem.

His ADSL line should beinstalled today.

:)

Hi Louisp,

Please make sure if your friend has the 5100S or 5100SM. I am almost sure it is a 5100SM because there is no CD or Manual included.

The 5100SM is a pure modem with no router capabilities, in other words it is always in Bridge mode.

There is no settings you can change or program on the unit and it is really easy to install. You just connect the power and the Ethernet. You then create a new connection using the connection wizard on Win XP.

Herewith the steps for WinXPs New Connection Wizard:
* Choose "Connect to the Internet" and click "Next"
* Choose "Set up my connection manually" and click "Next"
* Choose "Connect using a broadband connection ..." and click "Next"
* Enter your ISP details in the following 2 screens and your done.

Give us a call on 086000adsl (2375) if you have any problems.

The boxes are not wrapped in plastic if that is what you mean with the box was open.

Hope this helps!

Aye,

Think you are correct! it should be the sm model then.
Must you connect the modem to an ethernet on your PC, or can you do it via a router?

You can connect it directly to a switch, hub or router as well. No extra settings are required.

If connected to a switch or hub the dial-up connection on your PC (WINXP) will automatically detect the modem through the network via PPPoE, and establish the connection.

The router (if set to establish the connection) willl also detect the modem connected to it via PPPoE if the modem is connected to the WAN port of the router.

Hope it helps!

Yup,

it does,

Just phoned my friend!

He is connected, via the router.

Thx for your help!!
