Billion 5102S vs 7300?

Hi Chaps

Can anyone tell me what the differences in specifications and performance/capabilities are between these two routers?

I know the 7300 has 4 ports while the 5102S has only 1. What about bridging speeds, processing power(?), etc.?

A response from Billion tech support would be great .

Sorry.... this one slipped past me today....

There is no "performance" difference between the 2 routers.

The difference between the 2 is that the 5102S is using a older chipset version from Trendchip than the 7300. The 7300 has more memory than the 5102s so there will be more "functionality" on the 7300.

Will find out about bridging speeds and processing power and get back to you on Monday when in the office again.

With these modems...hopefully someone can help me?

How do you set up the modem with more than one ISP account. From what I have gathered, you need a modem that enables you to create more than one PPPoE setting on the router. If you have an international and a local only ISP account, will the modem self decide which traffic to route through which account (i doubt)? How do you set up whcih traffic goes trhough which account?

From what I have gathered, you need a modem that enables you to create more than one PPPoE setting on the router.

As far as I know the Billion modems can't handle two simultaneous connections on their own. What they can do is handle one PPPoE connection and allow other bridged connections at the same time.
i.e. The modem can handle one PPPoE and you can create another bridge connection through the modem using your PC.

One of the MyADSL users did create two PPPoE sessions on his Netgear ADSL modem/router but it was one of the higher end models that runs a proper Linux OS.

The best solution is RouteSentry for Windows or a custom setup for Linux (such as the IPCop package that one of the ADSL users created).
Do some searching on the forums for "split connections" or "dual PPPoE" and you'll find many threads on this topic.
