Birth Control

on a similar topic ... would any of your GUYS get snipped ? i've been debating this with my SO and she doesn't see why she has to get her tubes tied or whatever they do these days, she wants me to get this snip when we had enough children ...

i told her HELL NO ! no one going near big daddy with a knife ! :D

Don't really see the problem with the snip if you're sure you don't want anymore children. It's not like it affects you as a man, as far as I'm aware?

As I understand it the female op is a bigger one and might entail regular hormone implants. Whereas the male op is small and no follow up work required. So, out of a pure schlep POV, the male would be easier. Your wife might not be pleased with regular visits to the doc for hormone implants.

I would be like Turk from Scrubs sneaking pills in without her knowing getting sex whenever wherever.

no dude i would go through with it in a heartbeat BUT just the thought of someone snipping me is enough to put me off for life :D i'm a wuss i can't even stand needles, i might faint at the sight of the doc !

My SO jokes about it regularly and she's actually performed a few. Apparently she can do it while I'm asleep and by the time I'm awake, it'll be too late. I have no idea whether she's being serious or just want to mess with me, but it's enough to make you wonder...

Don't be such a feline. It's a MUCH more dangerous operation for your wife than it is for you. If you love your wife you'll do it for her...and she will compensate you for it!

yeah. at school, my best friend's mom had died from the op.
my mom also nearly bled to death from it.
i'm sure the incedence isn't normally that high, but the risks much lower with guys.
that said, if you're gonna kill the swimmers, be careful.
i've known two people where they had the op and then fell pregnant a while later.
not a nice surprise at the age of 45.

If it's with a female a man barely knows/one night stands, then it's her responsibility. She is gonna be the one carrying the child.

In a normal relationship, both.

The problem is that logic dictates that a man can still happily bear children at 60 even. For a woman it becomes dangerous to have children after the age of 40. So now, and I know in most people's utopias it is not a possibility but stats show otherwise, if you were to leave your wife when you are both in your 40s, or 50s, and you meet some spring chicken in her 20s who wants to have kids with you, then you are stuffed. Your ex wife on the other hand is unlikely to want to bear more children at that age and the young guy she meets is unlikely to pressurise her to do so.

I'll add that I am aware that is certain instances it is reversible.

Just another way of thinking of it....

Tubal Ligation is a low risk medical procedure, a small incision is made just under a females navel, a small instrument is inserted through a tiny tube to either tie, block or medically staple the tube to prevent passage of the egg and sperm. This procedure is considered permanent birth control, but it can be reversed, though reversal of the procedure is not guaranteed as the tube could have taken damage.

Ultimately the responsibility of birth control is that of the owner of the body who does not wish a pregnancy. It is noble to think that you can make someone else co-responsible for your body (as in a long term relationship or marriage).

Every individual is responsible for their own body, thus if I was to share a bottle of alcohol with my partner, I cannot blame that partner for my headache, drunkedness or hang-over, I willingly and knowingly drank the alcohol being fully aware of the possible consequences.

Females need to understand that they are in control of their bodies, not the state, church, a friend or partner - just as it is a womans choice to have an abortion or not.

So the ultimate responsibility of pregnancy is that of the female, however we live in a society where we have a system of moral obligation and co-responsibility, for instance, I invite a friend over to visit, we have some alcohol, the friend later leaves and has a car accident, someone is injured or killed, I now sit with the moral dilemma of having been a participant in actions that lead to serious consequences, I thus morally make myself co-responsible for knowingly having shared something with someone that I knew could have serious consequences - this decision to be co-responsible is up to me, if I subscribe to the mutual code of morals and ethics that society has developed in order to protect the innocent and to take to task the reckless.

Thus a woman and a man in a committed relationship (here, the commitment makes the difference) as the man has made a moral commitment to the woman, to stand by her, to support her, to be faithful and so on, then pregnancy becomes part of that commitment and that man makes a moral commitment to take co-responsibility for the pregnancy and his child.

Just have a close look, she might have done it already :D

Best bet is for you to have your sperm stored for an eventually like that.

Another issue with woman having the procedure done is it screws with their hormones or something to that effect I have been told. Maybe someone can confirm this.

Jeepers. You must have interesting dreams  :)

I plan on getting the snip but if I was ever to mess around I'd take the responsibility of wearing a condom. Ultimately you are responsible for your own sexual health.

There are worse things out there than pregnancy. No barebacking until both partners have been tested for HIV.

My wife's words not mine .... birth control is freely accessible nowadays and if a girl falls pregnant she has only herself to blame.

That does not mean I think it is the girls prerogative to take birth control, men should also be proactive and think with their noggins.

There are times where Tequila has been known to negate all reasoning and a package could be in the pipeline. :P
