Hello guys i have been watching this forum and it seems people is getting quality service here

Can you guys just please test one thing for me

Twitch.tv is it stable does it buffer etc cause im currently buffering a lot which irretates the c*** out of me
 
How is this different from neotel microwave ?

I have a nanobeam already installed, what SSID would I scan for Im pretty sure im near your Old Joburg (centurion) highsite

Can I use my own router to run the pppoe session ? What will you charge to come out and align or can I do it myself?
 
Hi Guys

There was a fibre upgrade done on our main Johannesburg distribution ring this afternoon which may have caused a few minutes disruption depending on where in Gauteng you are. These upgrades usually reroute traffic in 50ms but this one was difficult.

Apologies if any gaming sessions were disrupted.

Some feedback 2 weeks in with my Bitco 5Mbps connection . Had zero downtime , except the 5 min scare of yesterday :) . I've had consistent speed every night and when throttled the speed never fell below the promised half speed . It's a little bit annoying getting throttled after watching a Netflix movie but all still streams fine on 2.5Mbps (the 2Mbps customers might struggle a bit)

I would like to make a suggestion to maybe relax the throttling policy a bit on weekends , I'm sure you wont be affecting your business customers to much and keep your new home users happier .

I thought they don't shape streaming and only downloads???
In this case most Adsl options would be better??

They don't shape , they have a throttling policy meaning you get knocked down to half speed for a hour or so if "hammering" your line for +- a hour ( torrents , downloads , Netflix which can use .7 Gb an hour ) . So anything utilizing your line on a constant basis for a period of time gets you throttled. I don't mind it that much as as 2.5Mbps is still fine for everything I need to do if throttled , but like I said it might affect the 2Mbps customers .

Maybe Garth can shed some light on the streaming side . I think I read somewhere in this thread that a person downloads got knocked to half speed but the streaming was still fine , I've not had that experience , I get throttled after using Netflix for more than an hour thus overall line speed drops to 2.5Mbps

Would just like to add that I find that when throttled to 2.5Mbps I still get better performance out of my connection that I ever got on a 4Mbps ADSL line because of the consistent throughput provided by Bitco

I watched some Wildstar gameplay over the weekend on twitch, for about 20min, on the 2mb without any buffering

I watch Twitch all the time and i watch in full HD without any issues or buffering on the 5mb connection.

Hey SimH1, where in FWG are you ? I have just gone and signed up but am worried about getting LOS as I am near the top of Camdeboo in ph2.
 
So BitCo came to do a check for LOS yesterday, i was so excited. . . Unfortunately i forgot to mention to them that i stay in a 3 storey flat, which doesn't have easy access to the roof! Long story short, the ladder they brought with wasn't long enough. I'm now waiting on a call from them to tell me whether they would be hiring a bigger :erm: ladder to get to the roof or not. . .
