BitCo Consumer Review

So BitCo came to do a check for LOS yesterday, i was so excited. . . Unfortunately i forgot to mention to them that i stay in a 3 storey flat, which doesn't have easy access to the roof! Long story short, the ladder they brought with wasn't long enough. I'm now waiting on a call from them to tell me whether they would be hiring a bigger :erm: ladder to get to the roof or not. . .

Today is a week since i submitted my application. So longest one more week to wait. Can't wait :)

Goodluck "dog" :D I know what you are talking about, it can feel like a year. . . Im a bit disappointed they couldn't install yesterday, but the tech said that they could see a water tower close to their high site, so he reckons if they get a bigger ladder to the roof i should get LOS. . . So its promising

What speeds did you guys order.

Just had my site test and the results don't look good :( Damn trees in the way! Anyway, I still need to wait for the guys that did the test to file a report and get an official decision but it didn't sound too promising from what the guy said.

Sorry to hear than man. Similar thing happened to me. Technicians said i had good line of sight to 2 highsites. For me it was the distance that was a problem, i was too far away from the highsites. Technician said they might be able to use a bigger dish to combat the distance problem, but after he filed the report i was notified by the sales lady that the installation was being declined.

I ordered the 5Mbps option over the 24months :) so now I await the call... my friend got this and he is really impressed. Played CS GO with him and he got the same pings as me with my 4Mbps ADSL and also his up/down speeds is loads more stable and all the guys that has posted speeds here. So im really excited to be joining the BitCo family :)

Hi Skippie

We have a couple of installations in Thatchfields. I am not sure which complex it is as I believe there are several that form part of Thatchfields.

Hello Guys

i applied for a Telkom closer package with a 4mb adsl line in January and i am still waiting infact i have given up on Telkom, just found out about bit-co and i have been reading the positive reviews for sometime now and i want bit-co in my home,i live in queensburgh Durban and we fall in between two rings kindly assist Garth and tell me what i need to do to get coverage in my area pleasssssssse, the circle on the right overlaps the circle that's over the CBD if only it was a few meters to the left i would be covered,HELP I NEED INTERNET PLEASsssssse

I got my quote just now. The one thing that concerns me is the statement "Please note that if you upgrade within your contract period, your contract term will get renewed." on the quote.

If I sign a 24 month contract then I would expect Bitco gets enough from me in value as a customer and be a little more lenient if I decide to upgrade the speed? Is this unreasonable?

Cheers

Hi there Xoladinho

You might be lucky if you are on a high rise, just ask them to do a LoS test. Also if that doesnt work as previously mentioned you'll need to get 15 guys close by to get a tower by you guys. :) hope this info helps.

What does this mean? Your current 24 month contract seizes and the new option starts at 1/24?

Exmaple? I have had it for 12 months, 12 months remain. So they give the new option at 24 months or does that mean my contract on the new option would now be 36 months? This is kinda troubling...

I'll wait for Garth to comment on this.

Its the ladder. The new contract will take the old one's place. So you'll start from month 1/24 again.

I'm kinda ok with that. But I see your point. Does that mean that after the 24 months you can continue on a month to month? What is the 24 months is over and you decide to upgrade need another 24 month contract? Makes no sense. As they have a month to month contract. The installation fee is the same no matter the speed option. And then you can have any speed on a month to month...

Hi Guys

As soon as the initial contract period is over you then switch over to a month to month agreement. There is no installation charge if you upgrade on month to month as you already have the installation done and paid for.

I will need to clarify how upgrades are handled during the intial contract period but what I can say is it will definately be very fair.

Hi Garth, sorry I think you misunderstood my point above.

Taking out a 2Mbps option month to month, installation = R 4500
Taking a 5Mbps option month to month , installation = R 4500

What I'm saying is, when I have served 12 months of my contract why does the upgrade need to be a new 24 months contract? I would rather then just pay installation of R 4500 and switch to whatever speed I want when I want it. Doesn't seem like there is a difference between the 2 appart from the monthly subscription. Thus I agree with skippie: Why does the contract have to be renewed again for a fresh 24 months.

The way I see it, it should just be a new speed for the remainder of the 24 month contract. I could maybe agree with sort of a clawback fee should one sign for 24 months on 5Mbps but then downgrade to a lower line speed. As the client agreed to pay R 899 x 24 but now wants to downgrade to (insert months left out of 24) x R 699.

Hope the above post makes sense.
