Think I've figured out what the issue is with CSGO, when I join casual games (which are serves hosted by intoxicated) my pings are low, 20-40ms (although there is still the odd packet loss which creates a spike, this is few and far between), when I queue for a 5 v 5 ranked game (which is the game mode most prefer, and the servers are hosted by MWEB) my pings are crazy high 100-200ms and I sit with constant packet loss, now I'm the only one on my team getting this issue, so surely this must be some kind of issue on Bitco's side that can be sorted out?

BITCO PLEASE RESPOND...

Unotelly
197.189.212.164
197.242.94.51

I also tried another DNS service Unblock-Us
208.122.23.23
208.122.23.22

Between the two there is 1mg difference.

+1

Sub to Unotelly and never be bothered again.
About R 50 a month.

Lol, read that post out of context. You saying weaker speed on Unotelly than without?
I'll have to check this. Haven't experienced this yet. I might be wrong.

So after I got fed up of the pings last night, I sent Bitco I support ticket, explaining the excessive lag I've been getting in CSGO lately, after which I let a download run and went to bed...

Here's the reply I get:

Our graphs show that 14 hours ago when this call was logged there was over utilization of the line for a prolonged period of time resulting in your line being throttled. The lag spikes were due to a slight interference on your line during this time. But it was rectified by our system.

Your ticket status is 'Closed'.

Lol **** the fact that the client might still reply to this ticket right??? lets just close it already and make assumptions!

Now I'm not sure what counts as over utilizing(seeing that bitco changes there FUP as they see fit), my gf was on her tablet a few times during the day checking FB and playing hearthstone, and myself tried playing 2 games of CSGO the evening, we sure "over utilized" the **** out that connection hey?

Tell me Bitco, does your support staff get paid per ticket they close, because it sure seems that way...

They did the same with me, I've experienced packet loss since day one. Multiple tickets and calls later they told me the tower is experiencing heavy signal interference. Surely they must've known before the installation there are signal interference on the tower?

I was made aware of the interference after a couple months of complaining, at which point I accepted it and learned to live with the quick spike the lost packets cause every few minutes (Not the end of the world) but lately out of the blue my my pings would spike to 200ms (and stay there for like 20-30mins) with a constant loss of 20-30% (no up and down spiking like when a packet is lost here and there)... This I'm not happy about, and this is surely something bigger than slight interference every now and then, that they should be able to fix... Once they manage to keep a ticket open that is:erm:

Because logging a new ticket is kind of useless, because it gets assigned to a different person, with the same mentality of "lets see how many tickets I can close":(

For those considering joining bitco for the purpose of gaming, this is what your pings to local servers will look like during the early evening hours (the time you'll most likely want to game)... http://netgauge.ookla.com/share/199451224.png

And if you go as far as trying to complain about it, they'll have a look at your daily usage graph and see that sometime during the past 24 hours you dared to actually use your internet, and they'll use that as an excuse for your high ping at the specific time (even though the time you used your internet for something else is nowhere near the time you did the speed test) being completely oblivious to the fact that their quality of product/service has gone to ****, and is nowhere near the quality most of us received when we first signed up

Not taking pot shots at you here bud, but weren't you one of the most vocal people regarding BitCo?

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/683180-Bitco-Consumer-Q-amp-A/page4

They have YET to respond to the complaints I and many other users have made?

It's funny, at the start I punted their services to all my colleagues, friends and family, I even suggested the company I work for consider one of their fibre offerings, thank goodness their commercial sales people were so horrible (and not interested) that they never followed up on it and we stayed with our current provider.

I'd hate to be the cause of the same network/internet issues home users experience, on our corporate link.

Oh, I forgot to add that, without giving customers usage graphs and alerts for their links, how can BitCo classify usage as "over utilization?"

They run a A grade network but can't provide a basic tool such as link usage? What a JOKE!

You quite right Senshi,I had the utmost respect for the company and there service and just like you I referred the service to all my mates and family members.Currently Im very embarrassed

It seems to be the trend these days from all the the ISP's, that they pull you in to sign a contract for 12 or 24 months with great performance and promises of great things then 3 months to 6 months later the wheels fall off. It feels like someone flicks a switch from an excellent service to a really ****ty service deliberately, in order for the ISP to streamline their network to avoid congestion etc.

Years ago, first it was Iburst, then CellC, then Afrihost and Telkom LTE and now Bitco, things were brilliant, but then 3 to 6 months later the wheels fall off, it's bloody frustrating.

However it is not all doom and gloom, the rest of the services that i utilize on the Bitco Link is brilliant, no issues what so ever,I got all this internet power but i can't use it. The way i see it and you touched on it Senshi with your comment, if they cannot rectify this issue of BF4 within a space of a month what confidence do you have in your service provider whether it be Business or Home service, how long are they going to take to fix the problem, it's all about perception, swift resolution....... action not reaction!

I have looked and asked around within social media and forums if anybody else is experiencing this problem and so far, nothing. NO ONE ELSE HAS THIS ISSUE, ONLY BITCO.
I appreciate the fact that this is not an easy problem to solve, however 1 MONTH please come on!

All i know is, I am annoyed and losing patience.

Apologies for the vent 2 posts back, Bitco don't have 24/7 support!

The problems we are experiencing is not area related, it is BitCo network related.

I understant then.

Guys just to insert a bit of faith... but, maybe we neglect to look at it from a business viewpoint. Now dont get me wrong i dont even have bitco yet but

As they load more people on their data centres, lets assume thats major traffic.

lets pressume they have their networking engineers updating their whole infrastructure amd that should take timE.

id prefer a permant fix rather than a "shhh shhh heres a quick line for now" service. *cough* telkom.

But idk then again...maybe this is going on but... id rather have that then stolen landlines up in the street...

Dear Garth & co,

Would it perhaps be possible to utilise a sms or mailing system in order to inform your residential customers when issues are being experienced and / or network upgrades etc. are being conducted?

It might assist greatly in ensuring that expectations are pro-actively managed whilst ensuring that all of us don’t at once phone the helpdesk when issues are being experienced. Looking at the thread thus far sort gives the impression that there are only a handful of challenges but it is however being experienced by the majority of the users, whether it's Facebook apps not working or BF4 gaming issues - some issues appearing from time to time whilst other issues are persistently present.

Most of your residential clients are very loyal given the service offering in general and I have for example referred two colleagues that both signed up for the 10Mb option during the past week – some feedback via a quarterly newsletter together with some snippets regarding the technology being used etc. would as such be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Charl

I'm in Centurion, but you'll find people all over having the same problems, might I ask what you're going to use your connection for, reason I'm asking is, because if you're not a online gamer, you'll probably be happy with Bitco, the only reason I haven't pushed for an early cancellation yet, is because some days I work from home and every so often download a massive single player steam game (Bitco has made me like single player offline games again:D), and for general internet usage, and some big downloading during the evening, Bitco works just fine, but as soon as you step into an online game you're going to start swearing...

That's a bit harsh?

I use mine MOSTLY for online gaming and I'm extremely happy. Given, I don't play BF4 though. CS:GO it's flawless. Rust it's flawless. WoW I have the best ping I have ever had from ANY supplier (180 - 190 ms).

The problems some people are experiencing with the gaming I would assume to be area related as opposed to what senshi is trying to say. I played Rust the whole day yesterday. Garth or Mike are more than welcome to post the graph for my connection yesterday in here. Issues there are, I have had a few hick-ups myself which I got sorted.

It's no secret that you're the only person on here with a perfect connection:p But seriously not a bit harsh, I also get low pings on Diablo 3 190ms, but low pings don't mean stable pings on my connection, it'll spike up to 500-600ms every 30seconds or so due to the packet loss caused by the interference...

Just last night I queued up for a competitive CSGO game(I honestly dont know why I do this to myself haha) , started out with a pretty 30ms pings, about 3 minutes into the games I've experienced roughly 5 spikes to 200ms with 30% loss each time, halfway through the game, random disconnect, couldn't connect back within time, and bam, competitive ban for 24hours because "I left the game"!

Its also no secret that the majority of people on here experience said interference, so I wouldn't think its to harsh to advise someone to steer clear of Bitco if gaming is their priority, seeing that they only have about a 1/10 chance to not get interference...

On the plus side, Infrastructure has become available in my complex for ADSL, so I'll getting a capped account for my gaming needs, and use Bitco for my work and downloads, and I won't be on here complaining so much anymore:p
