BitCo Consumer Review

Reading all this stuff regarding Bitco I am glad I did not have LOS.

And there is no way in hell they're selling home connections at a 1:1 contention ratio at their prices.

PS: Any further developments on the "speed bumps"? Been contacted a fair amount of times by sales asking if I would like to upgrade - and they have no knowledge of the before mentioned "bumps". Soon you will have to stay competitive with all the 'Future Hoods' in development ;)

cheers

+1 , would also like to know !

Guys test your Battlefield 4 game play and please give feed back.

The boys at Bitco have been busy and it is looking very promising!!!:)

Still early days, but promising!!!

PC KICKED OFF SERVERS

Still kicked off after a few minutes play - very frustrating!

Battelfield 4 still disconnecting and says connection to the server timed out?? Please fix Bitco more testing needs to be done especially on pc, No point only testing ps4 and xbox and then saying its much better now when we still experiencing the same problems..

Morning gents.

I concur more testing needs to be done.@Bitco, there is a substantial improvement on console and it seems, the rubber banding and packet loss has pretty much disappeared however it depends what time of day you are playing for eg:- Played from 4pm yesterday and all was good until 5:45pm when there was a recurring lag spikes ,rubber banding and packet loss then from about 7pm it seemed to become more stable, smooth sailing until 10:15pm when i switched off.

Please keep in mind no other devices or peripherals were connected to the network same time while playing.

@Cal, Im sure once they have figured out the issue completely they will apply it to all platforms.

So BitCo was just here by me and even though I've got line of sight, something seems to be wrong with the signal. They said they will phone me either today or the next couple of days to let me know if there will be an installation.

I wonder if there's interference here by me. So there's still a little bit of hope. If I can't get BitCo then I just don't know what to do with regards to internet anymore.

That sound awfully familiar...

I got told there is line of sight but that they need their Snr network Engineer/Planner to sign off on the install before they can proceed. I actually cornered the guy and said "Don't give me the run-around. You have the experience here - tell me is there a good change of installing or not since I need to make alternative arrangements if you are not going to install. I cannot wait days for you to come back with a 'no sorry'", to which he replied "It looks promising".

Needless to say, the report came through the following day with no LoS and a note saying my contract has been cancelled.

Damn, the guy also told me that there's a good chance of the installation happening. Our stories sound very similar. I really hope I've got better luck than you.

We should compare reports afterward..
Here are the photos of the report sent to me:
Tower here -26.102064, 27.858956

The estimated coordinates of the 2.5km point they indicate: -26.107166, 27.933560
The estimated coordinates of the 3.35km point they indicate: -26.079314, 27.895187
From their coverage map, these last 2 point to nothing, with the 2.5KM one being over the horizon from my place.

Where in Wilgeheuwel do you stay? I can see one of the towers from my house and is about 3,1km from the tower.

Careful, Wilgeheuwel users. I could not game at all on my connection. Packet loss for days

Yeah I think that's why they are skeptical, even though many of us have line of sight, interference is a major issue on a lot of these connections, too many complaining customers is bad for business, so might be that they're getting a bit more strict with regards to giving the go ahead on installations

I have been with BitCo for 6 month now. Very happy with their 2MB package. It's awesome.
I upgraded my line from 2MB (package no longer exists) to 5MB recently

What's the FUP for the 5MB? From I can see in the router stats. I max out the line with 90%~100% for about 30 mins, and gets throttled to 2MB. I download with 2MB over night stopped this morning @ 7:12. After then, I start waited and check periodically. And the full speed comes back only after 2 hours @ 9:12.

With 2MB line, this is much more quicker, about less than an hour.
So, does the leaky bucket acts just like a "buffer" which you will wait for a longer period to clear that "buffer" for a higher speed (because you fill it up quicker)?

Another question, is anyone aware the network is kinda unstable around 19:00 ~ 20:00 (varies) in the night (not always). I tested speed with various servers, generally between 2~3.5 MB. It's not throttled, but max is around there. It does affecting me watching HD (720P) YouTube video.

Everyone except Bitco yes:p This is generally the cause that I can't game on my connection anymore, its so unstable during high traffic time, packet loss and lag spikes make it a mess

It's usually an hour or two around supper time that is unstable though. All other time is functioning normally, not experiencing problem at all.

I'm very happy to say that my application has been approved! They are coming in tomorrow morning to install. :D
