To tell you the honest truth.. i stopped caring waiting for cancellation. The Premium service as it's now is not worth paying for something is wrong. it's like having DSTV Premium and they tell you sorry you cant watch channel xyz.

Hi Guys,
you are all pretty much correct with your posts.
as KoeksGHT says above we use DFA and have a 10Gbps Fibre ring around Johannesburg that feeds the high sites. Most high sites are connected using Fibre but we are still waiting for many of the outlying routes to be connected.
Installing Dark fibre consists of many complex steps and is very expensive so we connect them as quickly and efficiently as we can.
For those sites not on Fibre yet they would typically have 300Mbps Carrier Class Wireless back-hauls installed and would feed back to the closest fibre node.
All our services aggregate back to either Teraco JHB, CTN, KZN, these are independent data centre’s where we host our core equipment and directly connect to user sea cable systems.
Some of you mention Torrents 24/7 and yes this is a massive problem, we try to control this as much as possible with the P2P shaping during business hours.
Although the FUP does indeed protect us from massive abuse, P2P protocol are very aggressive and when large amounts of users on the same site are hammering it at full speed it can lead to other problems.
Disiza is correct with his post above and if we limited P2P more aggressively it would result in a better online experience for all.
We are consistently working to refine the way we filter P2P to ensure services like online gaming and web browsing take priority.
The problems we experience at certain high sites would typically be a combination of abusive P2P downloading or radio interference from unlicensed operators broadcasting on multiple channels at a very high power output.
We have very few high sites on our network with interference problems as we only collocate on towers that have full time facility managers and do not allow illegal operators to collocate.
We are currently doing an investigation into the users who are having problems and looking into any common factors associated with the BF4 issue and position on the network.
I will post an update soon regarding the above investigation.

Anyone have issues last night? I was away til about 11 with all PCs in the house turned off, when I got home my roommate tried playing some League, usually it has its spikes but it was completely unplayable. A speedtest showed speeds of 4.5mbps (10mb connection) and bad ping. I logged a support ticket, waiting on it.

I had this yesterday afternoon in CSGO, I've grown accustomed to the odd spike because of the packet loss, but for the first time ever did I have constant loss between 2-30%, I had cases where I kept rubber banding back into the same spot 5-7 times... Any chance you're in Centurion, friend of mine thats also in centurion, saying is online performance has also been degrading lately...
Oh and nothing is going to come of your ticket, they're going to reply and say "we just tested your connection, and can't seem to find a problem, your ticket has been closed" not taking into consideration the actual time you logged the issue

I do live in Centurion and I am feeling like it's been degrading, can't really point my finger anywhere as speedtest is usually spot on, but my peer traffic is shoddy during the week even after business hours, I don't really do online gaming so it doesn't affect me as much, streaming works fine but my roommate plays league and he says he gets spikes, I'm guessing these spikes happen when packets are dropped. When I do test packet drops against that server and bbc.co.uk though I get < 2% packet drops most of the time.
Only thing that's bothering me now is that when I wanna watch game of thrones monday after work, I don't wanna wait til 12 or 1 for it to finish downloading. My torrents don't go over 200kb/s on week nights. Weekends are brilliant, it downloads at the full 1000 - 1200 kb/s. Their new shaping system isn't working correctly a lot of the time.
Sounds awfully familiar. The highsite in Honeydew is on top of the water-tower in Boundary Road: 26°04'36.2"S 27°55'37.8"E (-26.076737, 27.927157)Okay, BitCo installation set for next week Monday around lunchtime. Fingers crossed that I have line of sight and that if I do I won't have the problems that some of you have.

They said from 13:00. I sat around for 3 hours and they pitched at 16:00.Oh noes, did they also tell you at around lunchtime lcbxx? I know they got to you very late.
They called halfway though week 5 and for an appointment in week 6.How long after you placed the order did they contact you to arrange the LOS test?

I recall him saying something to the amount of 9Eish, that's not a good sign. I wonder how many people they see a day.
I agree that they can optimise their LoS and installation process quite a bit if they have a dedicated LoS Team doing feasibility checks. When I asked the Tech that came out to my place how many installs they did for the day he said "We only did LoS checks today, many".
Thought so, just about everyone I've spoken to that live in Centurion seem to be the worse off when it comes to Bitco... Lots of packet loss, p2p shaped 24 hours a day during the week, FUP not working like it should... the people that are 100% happy with Bitco are probably those that have a high site to themselves outside of Centurion![]()
