BitCo Consumer Review

Hi Guys,

Some feedback 2 weeks in with my Bitco 5Mbps connection . Had zero downtime , except the 5 min scare of yesterday :) . I've had consistent speed every night and when throttled the speed never fell below the promised half speed . It's a little bit annoying getting throttled after watching a Netflix movie but all still streams fine on 2.5Mbps (the 2Mbps customers might struggle a bit)

I would like to make a suggestion to maybe relax the throttling policy a bit on weekends , I'm sure you wont be affecting your business customers to much and keep your new home users happier .

Keep up the good work Bitco

+1 for this

+1 for the suggestion, however Bitco will never do this!

Hi Guys,

Need some help . During the outage my wife phoned me to ask what was going on with internet and I asked her to reboot the router but she RESET it :D . Can someone just give me the default DNS settings on your router , I know the ip for the WAN interface not sure about the other settings , a screenshot of the settings would also help alot , thanks !

Hi, I accidentally reset my e900 router. Can anyone provide me with BitCo's default settings please

Packet loss over weekends are close to 5%. Kinda horrible to do anything on the web, nevermind even thinking about gaming.

Bitco techy came out and said that everyone in my area are experiencing the problem. Problem was then escalated to wireless, from where it all started off. Connecting to the clearwater mall area. Anyone connecting to the same location and not experiencing any packet loss?

Yup same here! No playing!

When do they start throttling the link? How much usage and is it rolling or for the month?

It's normally about 1 hour full speed, 1 hour 1/2 speed then full speed again and so on.

I have managed to download 12 GB's (ARMA3) on Friday evening. And another 1GB (Epoch) mod on Saturday morning. I normally don't do huge downloads unless it's patches or game downloads. O sorry and I downloaded GOT season 5 (10 x 700 odd MBs) on Saturday afternoon. So that was about 20 GB's in less than 24 hours. This all with speeds being throttled and going back to normal again. 10Mbps link

Thanks!

I want to change from Telkom as my current ADSL line is useless during peak times :(

Just don't want to get throttled :p I do about 75GB per month...will I get throttled a lot?

Depends on the usage I suppose. If you want to do 75GB in one go you should get throttled a few times before It's finished. If not it should not be a problem. 75GB's is not a whole lot of data tbh. So you should not have an issue. Unless like I said, if you need 75GBs NOW then it could be an inconvenience :D

haha, ok awesome. BitCo seems like the way forward :D

I'm holding thumbs that today is my link activation day. On Wednesday it'll be two weeks since the installation. So the time must be close!

Sent in my forms about 6 weeks ago now. Got one or two phone calls just to say i am still in the process of the whole thing.

The thing i want to find out though... i have moved into the house on the 1st of May, the previous tenant used Bitco and they left the equipment there, the outside dish and the network cable i assume. So as i understand it most of the work is already done, i just need the router etc. LOS and all that is ok because the previous person used it. So this being the 6th week and all... wonder how long still...

And yeah i did mention all this when i signed up, but this did not seem to help anything.

In another 3 months time?

1.Either they are going to announce that gaming is no longer viable on their network and that if you want to you may cancel and there will be no cancellation fee applicable.

2. They will open the APN and make the link unrestricted however at a huge additional cost option:mad:

3.Or the last option they are actually going to fix it:wtf:

Seriously an announcement on there website!!

I give up!!

I dont know if anybody has noticed, BITCO has removed GAMING from there website as a suitable use of their services on the 10mb/s and 5 mb/s packages!!!

Here comes trouble?
