BitCo Consumer Review

Damn. BitCo can't connect to my router to set up my username and password. I will have to go check this evening and see why. I left everything as is after the installation so I hope there isn't something wrong.

I really hope the link is active and working and that the router is functioning fine and that everything will just be awesome tonight.

I have posted the connection schematic in here somewhere. Just search it :p

Maybe they only need to connect to switch thing that the router connects to to do the soaking.
This is indeed confusing. If they do the soak testing to the switch, why not just shut the port serving the Router until testing is done. In the meantime the Client can connect to HIS router and configure it etc etc while the testing concludes.

Cable might have become undone. I had that issue. I think our cleaner might have bumped the wire and it wasn't all the way in. I plugged it in at home and bam. Working.

I really hope that's the problem. And I won't be surprised if that's the problem. It's so frustrating to sit here at work when I just want to go try out everything at home. :)

Hi Pitbull,

Thank you for this. We are not going anywhere and will still monitor and respond on this forum as usual. The quote above is purely to state that, should you expect faster responses from us, it is advised our official channels are used. We really are committed to addressing and resolving everything we can.

Great news! It's always great to have a representative at MyBroadband.

Hi Gezza,

You are clearly exasperated with BitCo. It is evident how upset you are, however, we have to state that your comments to the above information is what is published on our about page and refers to all of BitCo’s products and services at large. For example, customised solutions does not refer only to our wireless services, but instead encompasses wholesale and PBX services which are tailored to our customer’s needs.

Your comments are all aimed at gaming specifically. We have been more than transparent with taking ownership of this problem.
We will take the criticism where it warranted but the above is out of context and not accurate for the point you are arguing.

Kind Regards,
Jarryd

Gezza just got told! :p

Credit where credit is due, it's nice to see an ISP actually admit they are aware of an issue and provide feedback on a forum.
(Inconspicuously slides Jarryd a 20 Rand note to "encourage" future highsite locations.)

I had BitCo 5mbps for 2years and then Upgraded to 10mbps for the last year.
Year 1 BF 3-4 was working 100%
Year 2-3 not so mutch.

I want to point out that the Battlefield 3-4-HL problem came out after an net-code update from EA/Dice. That is why the game took so long to fix on BitCo's network.

BitCo did do something to make it work but you may still have a problem.

The Biggest Problem was Hi-Frequency network Updates. It automatically switch on dew to the low ping we have.
Under BF4 you should leave the option on auto. (the previous Update you could turn it off)
Under Hardline you can switch it off.

After doing this your BF will stop the 30sec.-5min. server disconnection bug.

*I have not tested BF3 yet and will update my comment as soon as Im sure it works or not.

Update
*I Have tested BF3 and it all so works now. :D

You sir deserve a Bell's... Bitco here is our/ your problem for the PC guys. Tested mine on hardline where u can turn it of i can play hardline now... On BF4 i cant play because my ping is 5ms to most servers... Now how do i get my ping to 50-80?

This is exactly why console guys aint getting disconnects because they play overseas..

I'm very disappointed to say that my BitCo link isn't working. I've got a feeling there's maybe something wrong with the router. BitCo is looking into it. So all that joy of hearing that my link has been activated has evaporated for now.

*edit*

But thank you so much Chantel at BitCo! She fixed it! Excellent support BitCo! Time to eat and then to try out everything.

@bitco this is confirmed on my side that this is the problem on PC... Can play hardline with the setting to off... But on BF4 it disconnects even if its on auto.. Only way to fix this is to get ping to about 40-100ms on BF4

Okay, so after initial testing:
Normal browsing is excellent. As is Youtube and downloading files.
I get about 1% packet loss. Is that normal?
Diablo 3 was fine.
In Forza 5 I had a message at the bottom: Weak Network Detected.
Youtube and uploaded videos work perfectly on the XBox One but Twitch doesn't work well at all.

I will try everything again tomorrow and see how things go then. On the XBox when I do the network tests it tells me that XBox is currently experiencing social and gameplay problems but on the XBox Live Service Status it doesn't show anything about that. So will try Forza again tomorrow and see if things work better. Same with Twitch.

I'm also experiencing packet loss, and they pretty much told me there is nothing they can do about the packet loss, either I live with it or I can cancel my contract (in which case I lose my installation fee).

1% packet loss is not normal for internet, but is quite normal on Bitco. Some games suffer less with packet loss (such as Diablo 3), some suffer more (such as most FPS).

I wonder if it's congestion. At 6am I get no packet loss and Twitch is working much better on the pc at least, haven't tested on the XBox One.

Exact same issue for me. During the day until about 4PM my connection is perfect (+- 0.2% packet loss). After 4PM my packet loss is between 2%-3%. Must be congestion, no other explanation for it.

It doesn't even help to contact Bitco about it. They'll just tell you that it's area related.

Over weekends it gets even worse. So better prepare yourself emotionally for it.

I also get the weak network detected message in Forza 5 , no matter what time I play and some cars will float in air etc due to lag , maybe Bitco can optimize some ports for us ?
