BitCo Consumer Review

Maybe I've missed it in the sea of replies but what does a handover test entail? A burn-in test to check for dropped packets as well as to give the equipment a thumbs-up?

Out of interest, how many GBs do you burn Garth?

They probably look at the standard deviation of signal over a period of time.
If the signal variation stays within a certain threshold, it passes and the link is handed over.

That's the only reason I can think of that requires a "handover period".

There's no much else that integrates time as a testing measure.

Just ordered... Waiting for Install guys to come out and do LOS test...

On a side note. Is P2P shaped? I am specifically using it for streaming...

Also I see a lot of guys say they get "throttled" after heavy downloading, I have some questions around this:
1) What is considered heavy downloading ? i.e. Uninterrupted 5GB +?
2) Does streaming (netflix, gaming) contribute to this throttle?
3) Do you get throttled from 10MB to 2MB ? or 5MB?
4) If you know you going to download & upload heavy amounts of data (work related) to FTP Servers, VPN's & Other cloud storage can we arrange up front communication to schedule this in off-peak network times to circumvent throttling? If possible?

1. Uninterrupted download at max line speed for an hour.
2. Yes
3. Half your line speed
4. No idea - Chat to Garth.

I don't download that much but I do use a lot of streaming services in HD and I cannot handle slow Internet.

Sorry. I meant for the burn test, assuming that's what you do.

Hi moosag

If you plan to do heavy unattended downloading, rather do it at night. We believe the link performance is so much better than DSL that it will still outperform.

Take a half day off work to be home for a scheduled LOs any time after 1pm, only to get a call 10 minutes ago cancelling. now have to repeat all this again tomorrow with another vague installation time and more time off work. not a very good start BITCO!!

Dear TyronDanger

I would sincerely like to apologise for this.

May I ask who contacted you so I can investigate? This is not what we strive for.
