BitCo Consumer Review

I'll be requesting a LOS shortly as there's no Telkom at my new place :'( ... hoping this goes well. I have a question though, how does weather affect connectivity, is my connection likely to worsen or go down while it's raining or foggy?

My question was also ignored a few weeks back after I even quoted Mike where he stated a separate thread will be set up regarding the NEW FUP and feedback will be provided on when it will be rolled out to the rest of the users not on the trial .

Thanks for the post.

So pricing wont change as such, what would typically happen is speed bumps

I cannot confirm any details at this stage but typically the industry keeps the price the same but simply increases speed for the end user to give greater value for money

I can also confirm that at any stage during your contract if you would like to upgrade or downgrade you can simply do this and keep the remaining term the same.

Honestly have been really happy with the service, but as i see some people have the sam issue i have been experiencing it would be nice to know if we can do something about it, the reason for me wanting to upgrade is because of online gaming,
Personally inhave done everything on my side, formatting the pc to to using different routers to different pc's, especially on battlefield 4 i keep being dropped from the DNS and disconnectes the game after 5 to min! I believe i speak alot of the guys on here where we would love to work together in finding a solution to this as this was one of the reasons i joined bitco!

The tower i use is in littlefalls if you have any info how i can better this that would really be appreciated i have logged a ticket today as well!

Anyone got a link to the wireless router they supply you with? Does it do the normal? Port forwarding, MAC Address block / speed limiting, DHCP leese settings .... ?
 
In 4-5 months my contract with Bitco will end. I will not resubscribe.

I was a very happy subscriber and over the moon that I can get a connection over 2mb/s without Telkom.

After testing out 5mb/s for about a month and a half I decided to upgrade to 10mb/s. That is when I started to see all the issues pop up.

Reasons why I'm cancelling my contract at the end of its term...

1. An FUP was implemented that shut down ALL p2p traffic between 6am and 6pm.

I was never emailed about this. It is a contract change and I only found out about it after complaining on this thread. You can not communicate changes like that in a thread!!

I pay a premium price (R1499) and I can't even use 10% of my line for p2p (Just to clarify, most of my games I play uses p2p networks to join sessions or update files).

2. NO support after 17:00 or weekends.

Feel like playing a couple of games with your mates this weekend? Better sort out all your issues before Friday or you will receive no help.

3. Will you be available from (insert time and date here) so that we can fix your game issues?

NO, I pay a premium price (R1499). I am not your QA/support team. You can download and install the same free to play games as I do to test it yourself. Would be much simpler don't you think.

4. Downgrading from 10mb/s to 5mb/s has a fee, while upgrading is free.

Over the phone they are more than happy to upgrade you without cost to a higher connection. Downgrading though will cost you R500. An amount that is not stated anywhere on their website, neither has it been communicated to me when I did the upgrade. My issue here is not the money, but the secrecy of the downgrade fees.

5. Packet loss on every online multiplayer game I play.

The Packet loss is just bad. I've raged hard in CS:GO because of it and started to hate the game. You just can not play fast based action games with any Packet loss.


A lot of users are happy with Bitco and I am really happy for them. But I will be able to get much better service at the rate that I am paying.

Same here, can't believe its so hard to just play a game...
 
I am so disappointed with Bitco.

I signed on last year June and the speed was awesome, i have 5Mb connection. I could skype, web conference without any issues. It seems that since January things have fallen apart. Skype voice calls are bad, web conference VOIP is bad. Now the router keeps on dropping the WiFi.

Please help me out, we work from home and this critical. I am not prepared to move over to a business connection with this type of service.

I would really like to know what has changed with Bitco since the beginning of the year.
 
I decided to play some CS:GO again last night. What a rager I had. That one second lag every 20-30 seconds kills me every time.
 
I am a bit concerned now about this FUP. My installation is scheduled for later this month so I could probably still cancel it if need be. I watch a lot of youtube/tv now will that result in me being throttled to 2Mb if that is the only traffic?

If you watch youtube for an hour, yes, you will get throttled.
 
Is there any way to expedite the LOS test and installation ... generally the whole process? I moved and the 3G bill is getting overwhelming. I submitted my documents yesterday and was told there's a lead time of 6 weeks! In this time I can't work from home (how **** is that), and can't really play WoW or ESO as I need my data for work.
