Hello all,

My bitco contract is coming to an end and I'm as such exploring the option of either renewing it or alternatively moving over to Level 7 Wireless (which interestingly enough seems to be the WISP with the least amount of complaints on HelloPeter).

I was initially extremely happy with Bitco given that they were (and still is) a MASSIVE improvement compared to the Sprintnet/Kawuleza setup that I've had in place when we stayed in Jhb but the latency, stability etc. haven't been that great lately, whilst I'm still waiting for a response on the ticket that I've logged 2 weeks ago...it seems as if the residential uptake was overwhelming with the subsequent result that service and turnaround times are not of importance anymore.

Any comments/suggestion/general advice would as such be greatly appreciated, in order to ensure that I make an informed decision whilst any other providers can also be recommended (we're in Midstream, Centurion)

i personally feel these wisps are overly expensive for what they offer and usually throttle the cr*p out of you..

have however found this one to be fairly reasonably priced and they also offer you symmetric speeds up and down

maybe give them a try.

Hello Charlie600,

If you have any questions please shoot them this way :)

We have just gone live on a tower very close to Midstream so you should have a nice and strong link!

Go for Level-7. Excellent reviews, always rectifies any problems (Hellopeter.com) and it seems that they sincerely care. Also If I remember correctly they do allow torrenting after 12am. Maybe if the Representative can just commend on that.

Hey Breacher you are too kind!

Correct, on our shaped accounts we are fully unshaped from 00h00 to 07h00 so go wild! Leave your torrents running during the day they will crawl and we open up the taps are 00h00 and magic happens

Hello Charlie600,

Thanks for the post.

We know level 7 and can confirm they are certainly one of the really good WISPS in and around your area.

from our side we are managing well with the uptake of our consumer product and have implemented a longer lead time for new applications to ensure our existing customers get the highest level of support & service from BitCo.

We have also stopped delivering links to residential customers in areas where we have a large uptake to ensure the highest quality bandwidth is available and capacity plan accordingly for potential upgrades of product and customer end points.

I would be interested in what support request you logged and was not resolved swiftly, if you can please pop me a PM I will investigate internally.

Mike

Thanks for all the comments, much appreciated.

It is also great that Mike reached out, sent a PM

Now this competition in the WISP sector is amazing to see! Civil competition is always amazing! Keep it up Bitco and Level 7! :) we need more companies like you guys especially to take on Telkom

Level-7-Wireless is the way to go. I heard a lot of complaints about bitco on carbonite. I Don't personally use Level 7 but good reviews and you get what you pay for. I am waiting for Level 7 to finish there extension plans in midrand then I am moving there as well. I currently use jumbo tech and they are quite good. I pay around R699 for 2mbps/2mbps and the speed is constant, contention of 5:1 and the packages are boosted so I get about 2.5Mb connection.

Boosted? Bursting you mean? Who is the upstream? If you do a Speedtest who is the ISP?
