IMO I distrust anything that encrypts your hard drive, and it makes things harder to recover in case something borks.

If you have a good, running backup then yes, go for it, but otherwise, leave it as is.

If the PC will boot, in the other thread you said it doesn't boot with the drive in...

My mistake was not backing up before the encryption, but how the hell do you back up 3TB if you don't have another 3TB drive.

You buy another 3TB drive.

I know it doesn't seem cost-effective, to buy hard drives in pairs, but when things go wrong... and they always do eventually, you'll be glad you did.

If the data was worth encrypting, it was certainly worth backing up.

If the PC will boot, in the other thread you said it doesn't boot with the drive in...

He could try boot the computer first and then attach the drive with an HDD dock.
