BlackBerry 4.5 software?

Well .. I DO know some people that like it just as a phone and don't want email

Are they planning on releasing 4.5 for the other devices?

This is great. Unfortunately, haven't been able to unlock my 8700 to use in SA yet, tried everywhere! So I just use it in the states at the moment...

My mom has a 8700 from o2 (UK) that she is missioning to get working on her T-Mobile (US) account so she's stuck using her old one for now.

Yeah mine is stuck on cingular. Apparently they will only release the unlock code after using their service for three continuous months. I've been unable to do this as I travel to SA far more often than that. Pain in the ass!

She wants to keep it on T-Mobile even though she's in the UK because of their fixed price international plan.

I haven't really looked into that because unfortunately in sunny south africa we're relegated to ridiculously expensive mobile calls, I doubt we would even qualify for any agreement the big operators may have between themselves (US/Europe, etc).

I still have my cingular plan (contract) in the states, and my vodacom contracts here, and I seem to be surviving. Although keeping track of all them these days is proving difficult, I've just given up! :D I use vodacom in Africa and mainly cingular when I visit Europe or I'm in the US. (or just buy a local PAYG sim...)

Anyway, if she's had the device for longer than three months and used the service continuously for those months, you should demand T give you the unlock code. Those were the conditions given to me by cingular.

She uses the blackberry exclusively as a data device - pays T-mobile about $50 per month for unlimited global roaming.

The problem isnt with t-mobile but O2 in the UK - they've locked down their blackberry and she wants to use that t-mobile.

Since installing 4.5 the Vodafone Sat Nav program will not open, just "hangs" on that Vodafone Sat Nav "make this most of now" page with the picture of the car driving next the ocean

It is already available on Vodacom's network. Only catch is that you need to have OS4.5 on your Berry but the link to OS4.5 has been removed from Vodacom's website. If you have OS4.5 you just need to resend your new service books to your device and it is then available.

Even when it was available it was only for one or two devices. :(
