My BlackBerry is in for repair.

Does anyone know if I can set up the BlackBerry access point on my old Nokia E61 (Vodacom)?

I don't think you can, why would you want that though ? Are you on BIS or BES?

BIS. The E61 has Blackberry functionality built in.

Hi hexagon

This will be possible all you need to do is a handset swop please call 082155 so they can do the handheld change.

Well, I am still struggling with this. I received my (swapped out) Blackberry back, but I am beginning to realise that I prefer working with my E61.

It turns out that I need to do a "handset swap" on http://www.mobileemail.vodafonesa.co.za/ - which entails entering the PIN and IMEI of the E61. The problem is that the site does not accept these values, despite obtaining them correctly off the phone.

I raised an issue with technical support, and they have confirmed it is an issue (I have a reference number). However, it has been a month since anyone has got back to me - I called last week, was told that the issue is still pending, but didn't receive the promised call back.

Can someone at Vodacom please find out what is going on? (the reference number is S2-Y0Q2C-C946F)

Well, there were some subtle changes on the www.mobileemail.vodafonesa.co.za site. I was able to register using the same PIN and IMEI. No one informed me of the changes, but I'm glad it's working... the operator who assisted with one final activation issue (possibly just me being impatient) seemed quite clued up, so thanks to him.

Now - I wonder if I can get Opera working on the E61 using the BlackBerry AP? Or am I too demanding? :D
