Blackberry Bold Tips/Tricks/Apps Thread

Is it just me or is anyone else noticing that downloads on the Internet Browser aren't as strict (I just downloaded an 8mb MP3 and it went through just fine). I double checked and I'm not using the MTN browser. My guess is that either they've increased the limit or the limit is dependant on the load on the Blackberry servers. I've never been able to download anything more than 3mb before, also got a 4mb zip with no problems too.

I just checked it out and I've found the same thing. I just downloaded a 6MB MP3 and now I am halfway through a 15MB .exe file! Very strange... Usually the biggest .exe I can download is around 1MB. I'm off to rape some BIS bandwidth while it still works like this. :)

[EDIT] hmm the .exe ended up being only 4MB and not 15MB

Anyone know of any good themes for the Bold? Free of course. I have tried a good google, but there seems to be more junk than anything out there!

I've tried quite a few themes now and they all suck. What I want is the Zen theme with just a calendar on the home screen but I've not found one yet. The others all have weird fonts and just don't look as good as the default zen theme.

I use the "E" Sidebar theme with 15 icons that can scroll on the lefthand side. (The first 15 that is in your menu)

It also have Mail and Calender items on the home screen.

This is a free theme and works well with your own wallpapers.

They are just busy relocating the files but as soon as they are up I will put up the OTA links.

Great. Please do...that looks like an excellent theme for me!

Hey Guys,

Just got a BB Bold. Awesome thread, helped me set up IMAP to gmail, and find out about BIS. Thanks.

Would like to know if anyone found a free PDF reader for their bb bold?

Nothing that I know of. The closest is Mobipocket, but you have to convert your documents on a PC first (it can convert pdf) and it's excellent for reading books. There is no free solution for reading pdf's that aren't e-mails.

Just remember to setup your rule in Gmail so that you do not get a copy of all your mail that you send via your BB. It can get annoying.

Welcome to the world of the BB Bold. Unfortunately there are no free PDF readers for Blackberry. That's what sucks about Blackberry software. Almost nothing is free. You can download a trial of Beamreader which last 15 days I think but that's the best you can do without paying. Also check out Flipside music player with coverflow and album art download function. Really cool. Its also a trial but there's a trick to get around that. PM me for more info if your interested.
Other cool apps I'd recommend that you might now know are Buzzme(ring and vibrate at the same time), Vlingo(voice control your apps), amazeGPS, iSkoot(skype), bluctrl(bluetooth remote).
Enjoy

I found a very cool free file manager called "File Manager Pro". Its only free because its still in beta but it is fully functional. It zips and unzips files which is great because I don't think there is a free program that does that. What I also like is that you can select multiple files and change file attributes.

Get it at terramobility.com

Guys as promised the links are up again.

Here is the direct OTA link to the E-Series Theme.
(For the new users of Blackberry. OTA =Over the Air. Just put the address directly into your phone's browser and it will directly download the theme to your BB.

Do yourself a favour and check all the other themes from E-Cruz they are really good.
