BlackBerry PRIV Android smartphone announced

Great idea and will please many who want Android with a physical keyboard. But, in typical Blackberry fashion, this phone will be underspecced and lag like a MOFO...

You can see the previous leaked video at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ6Yvp7-z3E

And John Chen demonstrating it poorly at: http://www.bnn.ca/Video/player.aspx?vid=713580

I've never been a BlackBerry fan, but I have liked hardware keyboards and am definitely interested in this phone. A little concerned though at the way it stalled for three seconds when tapping the home button (icon stayed lit) in the John Chen video.

Here's the Youtuvbe video for those without flash

It really looks like this is his first time using the phone.

You could see that he is used to using BB10. The way he wanted to swipe up to to close the app at the beginning.

hmm I want to play with this when it gets to SA. Might just consider this my upgrade if the price is right.

Glad they didnt make another Blackberry Passport or Blackberry Porsche :D

It looks really good.

The fact that it doesn't have the BB10 gestures is a major disappointment for me.

Between the iPhone, Android (Z1C) and the BB Z10 - the interface on the Z10 was the most intuitive. Gestures on Android are just not as fluid on the Z10.

And yes, I know BB Z10 is a +/- a fork of android.

Yeah also noticed

Uhm...what?

BB10 uses android as a base. Hence why you can sideload android .applications. Maybe fork is not the most technically correct term.

Edit: Seems I'm mistaken. QNX based.

If only they switched to android and this hardware model 2 years ago.

I think this phone takes BB's chances of making a comeback and surviving from 1% to 10%.
