BlackBerry problems explained

I'm perfectly fine on MTN, no outages. (Bold 9700 2G+3G option).

Thou I have notice that many vodacom customers get GPRS instead of EDGE here in Durban.

Yes, with Cell C, you can go half the day without BIS in our area with the 8520 EDGE, yet the 9300 3G will have BIS connection and the phones will be next to each other. Really frustrating.

Its faster to chisel information on granite slabs with stencils and wind-erosion, hand delivered, than surfing the web with Vodacom on my Torch 9800 in Centurion.
Edge, 3G whatever it constantly sucks. Not impressed.

The missed the comma because it should read :

BlackBerry, Internet Service problems explained.

Actually, they don't need an article cause the topic is a statement

Problems here in Durban on the Vodacom network.....after 7pm my BIS disconnects....and no i don't have a dual sim etc...

Bold 9700 (2G and 3G mode)
Vodacom

Vodacom also said that they upgraded the capacity of their BlackBerry service towards the middle of March, meaning that Vodacom BlackBerry users should see an increase in speed on BIS.

This explains why my BIS has been more up than down of lately - I use to have problems nearly every night and could only get on the BIS network lets say anything after 10pm or 2am in the morning but VODACOM,MTN and CELLC need to upgrade often to keep up with demand and with vodacom having over 1 million active blackberry subscribers and grown daily..

I hope I don't experience this problem in the near future cause quite frankly I would move over to another operator that keeps their network upgrades on a regular basis

Waits for Marine1

:-)
:D Getting so sick of Vodacom spin doctors and their bull *****
BIS on Vodacom is a fuc ken joke !!!
Sorry for the language but this is pathetic, the speeds when you are lucky enough to have service is slower than dial up.

I am warning you Mr Uys, come down from your throne and sort out the issues, CPA is in effect and you guys are playing with fire.
Next step is to notify Blackberry international and demand an investigation into what you pricks are doing.
Dual sim my skinny white ass.

I have to select 2G as default, cant select 2g+3G mode or nothing works period, on my 9780 and on my ladies 9800 Torch. 3G signal on vodacom is a joke and I receive no BBM messages or emails when on 3G...this article explains nothing...vodacom dont care about their clients as long as they get their money...bloody vampires!

Agree 100%
So 1 million users X R60 = R60 million and this is the crap we have to put up with?

Also having constant problems, on Vodacom Prepaid with a Torch. My BBM used to be fast - messages went through quickly. Now they take ages to go, if they go at all.
I get disconnected from BIS at times. Other times I am unable to browse the web despite having full signal and BIS active.
Most recently, and most irritatingly, I get kicked off the Vodacom network about twice a day for several days at a time, resulting in me being unable to make or receive calls, sms or check my balance. It gives me a vague "Supplementary Service Error: General Error" message. I have to reboot to get reconnected. All this while my BIS is working fine - I can send and receive BBMs. Also recently - during those periods that i'm disconnected, airtime vanishes off my phone. A cent or so every 5 minutes, and the total i've lost so far is only in the region of R1.50, but it drives me nuts.

I have the latest OS. I've updated everything I can think of. I have all the service books necessary.

Grrr.

Totally agree. BIS speeds suck! One of the reasons why I'm seriously considering NOT getting a BB when I upgrade.

I use my Curve 9300 on 3g only & it works perfectly. I'm on vodacom. Wife has same phone with vodacom & 1 week about a month ago could only connect on 2g only setting. Problem has since disappeared. Weird.

I originally started with BES and when I left my last job I didn't change to BIS, I just added my Gmail account to my BB inbox. I've never had a problem with disconnections nor speed. I have a Bold 9700 on Vodacom contract and travel around the country & overseas regularly.

One or two outages on MTN (Torch) but months apart and last only minutes. Same thing with my previous BB (Curve 3G). All my friends on Vodacom on the other hand... BIS downtime is a frequent issue for them
