BlackBerry problems surface again (11 OCtober 2011)

UPDATE FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T HEARD

"The messaging and browsing delays being experienced by BlackBerry users in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, Brazil, Chile and Argentina were caused by a core switch failure within RIM’s infrastructure. Although the system is designed to failover to a back-up switch, the failover did not function as previously tested. As a result, a large backlog of data was generated, and we are now working to clear that backlog and restore normal service as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience, and we will continue to keep you informed." sent 10:34pm

When you see an article on mybb about blackberry you can be sure an android fanboy is gonna come try and tell you why YOU need an android. Can the BB haters give it a rest, we know we have other options, a lot of us have experienced the other options. We prefer the bb package. get over it.

And to add to the above, a lot of BB users actually DO use other devices/operating systems, in conjunction with a BB - because the BB, love it hate it, makes use of technologies that other companies are still trying to get their hands on. I for one hated a BB until I started using one out of sheer desperation for a working mobile internet option in the Central African Republic, where data connections are amongst the highest in the world, with a 512k connection costing $1200 a month (yes, you read right!), ane 3G is not available, and GPRS/EDGE really not an option at all because of its cost and poor to non-existent connectivity - and it has become my PC in a Pocket ;) I still use an Android Tablet, and a MacBook Pro as well as a Windows Notebook - as each has its strengths and weaknesses. Yes RIM has issues, as all other large companies have had in the past - they will get over it, and us lowly colour-screened 3310 users can merrily get back to using a device which is solid, good quality, reliable, feature-packed, and great value for money!

Please

Only a kid would consider Watsapp a service... one of our PM's thought it was and then cried when no one got his messages.

BB is a business phone, that's always been the kind of person who gets them.

No one else does push email like BB, don't kid yourself... look at the amount of people who have been affected by the outage, if you are serious about connectivity you have BB.
At the meetings I attend you get laughed at for pulling out something other than a BB, I think that's the main reason for the hate... get over it.

People laugh wen BIS is down for a day... thats like an iBust user laughing when ADSL is down.

Please buddy, "every one to their own" I agree, but defending a service because it does push email is not going to win over anybody who uses an android, push is a simple concept these days! Any I have been receiving my email all day. So for a service to go down = customer loss.

Well BBM is epic dude, we have much more than bbm

1. email without worrying about the size of the attachments
2. browse all month long without having to worry if we have gone over our cap and will get a scary bill

The funniest thing is hearing the email or sms alert in a meeting, everyone looks at each other wondering who got a message :D.

What are we missing mike? Email, internet, bbm not sure what else we need. Generally our laptops should cover the missing bits. We have whatsapp as well plus we can even sms amazingly :p

What does the iphone or android offer? other than a high bandwidth bill. I laugh when i see 200mb bundles, 200mb is so last decade, we got uncapped.

We (I am) failing behind on speed.

If you are on majority you are Sheep
If you are minority you are on a dying brand/tech

Can't win either way

Correct. Sometimes its even worse, lose lose. In SA bb users are considered sheep, in the rest of the world we are using a dying brand.

I don't see why BB users should defend their choice to anyone. Its theirs to make.

They wouldn't have to if they stopped trying to force it onto everyone.

Them: "Hey what's your BBM pin"
Me: "Don't have one but thanks for being presumptuous"
Them: "Well you should get one cos BB is awesome"
Me: "GTFO"

I don't mind people owning BBs, it's their choice, as long as they accept it for what it is. Just don't tell me how much more awesomer it is compared to anything else :)

Yeah look most people are guilty of the same thing. I just wish people would be content with their purchase, instead of trying to justify it to everyone else :)

The trouble is you get threads like this people go nuts punting this phone and that phone and it makes us go all defensive :D.

lol i dont see the connection to your little dialogue there. So the "them" thinks their phone is great/best whateva, at least they didn't call ur phone a piece of crap. Android/Apple fan boys don't just tell everyone why their phone is awesome, they ALSO won't be satisfied until YOU believe their phone is awesome. I think some of them NEED you to believe their phone is awesome, its somehow adds to the perceived value of their phone.

I wonder, was RIM perhaps a victim of sabotage or a hack of some sort?
I cant understand how it takes so long to fix, I smell a rat. Maybe a foreign gvt tried to gain access and brought the network down?
