Blackberry Questions

From what I understand production was to start this winter (summer in the us) which would point to a september/october release.

The 8900 is nothing more than a 8310 with a newer os and redesigned body and wifi. All in all with both the storm and the bold on the market the curve 8900 is not all that attractive an option.

If you are into toys and touch screens then get the storm. If you are into bulky business smartphones then get the bold.

Slightly off topic: I have a bold and storm for sale: R4500 each.

There is sense for the Curve - it is a lot smaller, the software is quite good (from reviews I've read) and the battery life is always better because of the lack of 3G. In addition, it does have BOTH GPS and WiFi over the 3810...

Any ideas as to whether we'll see the Onyx, Storm 2 or even the Magnum anytime soon? I am eligible for an upgrade end of this month, and don't want to go for the oversized Bold or the 3G-less Curve...

the 8310 does infact also have gps making the difference between the 8310 and the 8900 purely looks, os and wifi. Given vodacom's poor edge coverage you'll basically be stuck with gprs...

I agree - made worse by the fact that the BIS is way oversubscribed at the moment.

Another thing - are we still on BIS 2.5? 2.6? Any chance of seeing 2.7 anytime soon?

Perhaps VodacomData can comment.
