Looks like the sub 20Kbits/s speeds are here again, seems all is not well after the _upgrade_

not too bad, certainly seems CT is stable at least, form what you were posting last week, Astound..

Sean

oops, or maybe not :(

Funny thing is that fismail was getting a decent throughput last week but now he is getting sub 20Kbits/s like I was getting.

When the upload is as low as 5Kbits/s then it is like the "watching paint dry" scenario that was driving me bonkers :(

We have not been given the "all clear" from VCD yet.

You have a GPRS/EDGE device what speeds are you expecting sir:erm:

You will be amazed to see what speeds the GPRS/EDGE only device achieved two days ago, see here:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=190899&page=16

However as can be seen by fismail's recent Speed tests, that is no longer the case, which clearly indicates all is not yet well.

BTW you have inspired me to rather get a 3G capable Blackberry (Bold 2) come Xmas since you have been consistently reporting excellent throughput all Weekend :D

OK, to answer your question, my expectation is to get the Speed which the GPRS/EDGE device is capable of:

GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 - 48 kbps

EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps

Given the above it would be considered _unacceptable_ to get sub 20 kbps download and as low as 5.64 kbps uploads.

To compare apples with apples, there is a MTN Speed test thread, not sure if it became part of the Burial program, wherein it shows the Speeds their Network was capable of delivering on GPRS devices.

I would expect nothing less than that.

EDIT found the thread, it was not buried like the VC ones are: MTN Blackberry Speed tests on EDGE/8520
