I am now on my third Storm 2! I love the phone, but hate what it's doing to me: whitescreen resets about 4x a day!

Is anyone else still experiencing this? I don't know what to do anymore. I purchased it from Incredible connection and each time I get a new sealed box, but the phone plays up every time.

Should I just settle for the 9700 with the small little keys or do I pursue other avenues to make sure I don't still have a recalled verision?:wtf:

I have mine from MTN now for three months no issues the only thing is I need a new OS Update due to the battery draining issues. my fone only last 8 hours after a charge,
But love the bugger wouldn't change him for anything else.

I'm new to the BlackBerry revolution and I've had my Bold 9700 for about 2 weeks now and find that the keyboard is rather 'fat finger' friendly. It's an awesome device IMHO. I was initially going to get the Storm 2 but touch screen devices and my fingers don't seem to work well together...

Had my storm2 for about 2 months now. Have not experienced any of the technical issues that i have read about. And i haven't upgraded my OS yet.
I did drop it though and the screen has cracked in the bottom corner. Thankfully not the LCD but just the glass covering it.

Have my Storm2 since end of March no issues, I have updated the OS to 436 and MTN is taking their sweet ass time to do the next OS whereas Vodacom are 2 ahead of MTN, that sucks coz yhe update improve battery life.

Package Version: 5.0.0.721
Consisting of:
Applications: 5.0.0.436
Software Platform: 4.2.0.189
File name: 9520M_PBr5.0.0_rel721_PL4.2.0.189_A5.0.0.436_MTN.exe

If I ever move away from an iphone, this is the phone that I want. I just cannot use a phone with a keypad anymore. I keep on pressing the screen on "non-touchscreen" phones.

I personally prefer normal keypad over touchscreen. touchscreen is a just a recipe for disaster in my opinion - i will end up dropping the phone or breaking the screen......

Touchscreens are great, you just need a decent cover and I used screen protectors never had a problem and I'm really clumsy. The thing is I can do anything faster on my qwerty keypad than I ever could on a touchscreen, since you have up to 36 shortcuts while you have to navigate to get to most things on a touchscreen. For general use no one can beat the speed of a qwerty Blackberry.

I love touchscreen but yes full qwerty keypads are faster to type on, it just don't beat the large screen size for photo's and video's plus browsing.

Onto my fourth now.

Yesterday I collected my fourth storm2. I have not done the firmware upgrade and thus far I have had no problems. I have also not installed any additional apps which kinda defeats the object... What shall I do?
Does one remove the data card from the phone before upgrading as one site suggests?
Did any of you do that?

Next question: Wireless or desktop?
I am just scared witless to do this in case my phone starts the resetting thing again.
What are the kinds of apps that you have running on yours? Perhaps there are some that I should avoid...

Okay I have a Bold, but I have done this many times. Desktop is safer (I didn't know Storm users could actually use the wireless option in SA). I don't know of any app that is quite so dangerous, worst case I usually pull the battery and then delete the app. There are windows apps for wiping your phone in the worst case (bbsak I think).

Wireless on Storm2 is awesome, thats why I've applied for the MWEB ADSL uncapped internet services, getting a wireless router.

MY last 3 phones have all been chocolaet bar design with QWERTY and touch screen ... I think it's the way forward and have no idea why more manufacturers don't do it!

Same as the earlier poster, I keep pressing the screen on my Bold now ;)
