In the last few weeks I've noticed emails are taking sometimes several hours before they are delivered to the device. I've also noticed that with Blackberry Messenger almost half of the messages sent during a chat are not received by the other party. This is across several devices and users who are all located in different parts of the country so it's not phone related, it's network related.

It's embarassing chatting to someone on BB Messenger when they only receive half of what you say, they think you're mad when you go on talking about something that they do not understand simply because part of your chat was never relayed to the other side.

Seems like we are heading back to the dysfunctional Blackberry network situation of 2009 :erm:

I've also noticed a lot of my BBM messages not being delivered in the past few days. In most cases I just resend the message but I'm worried that they do sometimes actually deliver and the deilvery confirmation doesn't come through.

I am on MTN and I have no such issues, the longest I have to wait for my messages to confirm that they were read when I have a conversation is before the other person's next message get through.

It's DEFINITELY NOT a temporary issue. The network has fallen into dissaray again and Vodacom in their usual manner are just keeping quiet about it and STILL advertising and selling bb's by the thousands. I have many messages that for over 72 hours have STILL not been delivered to the device. Add to this a total blackout of 3G in my area due to an ATM fault that for 52 hours Vodacom has not been able to solve. Welcome to deepest darkest Africa ... what a frikkin JOKE !!!! Here I sit at midnight in the middle of nowhere to get a 3G signal just to be able to pay my staff and just looked into my email accounts at the many many messages I did not receive in the last 2 days on my blackberry. This is utter bull**** !!!! I now start with official complaints to ICASA and putting this info out into the many channels I have at my disposal, Vodacom does not want to play the game unfortunately and I've had enough now of paying good money for shoddy service. Game ON !!!!

If it were a BIS issue then MTN would have the same problem. My e-mail messages all arrive on time.
Threegee have you tried deleting your e-mail account from BIS and adding it again?

Well it could be a problem with BIS 3 BUT that would be assuming I and all other BB customer were actually courteously informed that Vodacom was doing upgrades but NO never a word on these things. This happens across the board with Vodacom, upgrades are done at 4:45pm on a Friday, never tested and everybody buggers of at 5pm. I've been a customer since day one and I'm not far off with that statement. Vodacom has all the power in their hands to msg all customers of a particular type and send a courteous message that they're performing upgrades. It's really not frikkin rocket science. As far as deleting and recreating everything the past has proven this is never the solution, how shoddy is the blackberry network that they keep telling clients to do stupid **** like this. They always point a finger back at the customer and his phone but NEVER take responsibility or admit there's a fault. There is most certainly a problem going on affecting email but hey it's long weekend and squat will be done till next week anyway, this entire week nothing has been done either to fix it, guess priorities lie elsewhere.

I had the issue of BBM messages not being delivered too, but this was reported all over the world. It has since been fixed on my side though.

Well message delivery seems to have improved however since this started a week ago, delivery reports on emails are no longer working.

It seems to me that Vodacom is really struggling to maintain any resemblance of a decent service, no accident that iBurst is part of this corporate conglomerate. For a company that is partly funded by us the tax payers (don't believe the hype that we are not) it baffles the mind that service levels are so poor. Poor signal, poor customer service, well in general pathetic all round experience for the paying customer YET everyday people walk into a Vodashop and sign up for contracts.

I am always amazed at what the South African consumer will accept. Has the 40 years in the dark made us so comfortable with sub standard levels of service.

If you sign a contract with a company it is generally accepted that YOU will pay for the service and THEY will provide it, if either party fails to delever this contract should become NULL & VOID or am I wrong?

The only problem MTN has with its BIS is that they sometimes don't activate BIS when they should. I had to phone them to hear BIS is activated and then went to the store and they said it was not activated. The consultants at the store sorted the problem out quickly. But personally, I think MTN is better if you have a blackberry.

MTN has sorted out their BIS issues, for now. My wife's Vodacom Blackberry is also giving issues with BB messenger. Sometimes messages take 2 hours to go through.

BB Bold 9700

Oh dear... and I so badly want to get a BB Bold 9700 from Vodacom next month, in May. From Vodacom it's currently R429 p.m. on BB Talk 100. No idea how much this phone is on MTN (if u know, please post the answer :)). Am sick and tired of MTN's network quality and my stupid Samsung Omnia!
