Thanx oronte for getting back to me,

Yes the APN was changed to blackberry. net
How do I check if Opera mini is using BIS (3G :',. is always active in uppercase)
Can you give me some examples of 3rd party apps that run in the background not using BIS.

THANX AT LOT.

You need the B sign next to the 3G, if you don't have it then you're not using BIS. Test all your apps, press the red button to go back to the home screen while the app is connecting for data and see if the B disappeared. The most likely culprits are streaming apps and instant messaging apps that were not made by RIM.

hrm my mtn Bis stopped working today :s

bleh usual 'credit rating' and connection charges story..

You just have to tell them to increase your credit rating, this also happened to me when I added a 2Gig data bundle and I told them just to increase the amount before they suspend the account. No problems after that

Sorry for my ignorance... do not own a Blackberry... yet... why load a 2 gig data bundle if browsing is free with BIS? Asking because I'm trying to stay clear of using data bundles, that is why I'm going Blackberry...

Of course, that is true, tethering not using BIS... Thanks Oronte.
