I am using a E220 with vodacom and bought a 2 gig data bundle. How can I tell how much of the data bundle I have used? I tried smsing 100 with "balance" in the message but all it returns is the amount of rands I have left over (after the data bundle was purchased).

Is there a way to tell how much bandwidth I have left on this thing so I don't get unpleasantly disconnected in the midst of a brilliant facebook status update?

Thanks,

Easiest is to register on www.vodacom4me.co.za and then look under "My Account" -> "Data bundles" .

You can also top up and all that stuff there too, ultimately the easier way to go than SMS'ing with the modem.

(Note there are a SMS/USSD number, i just can't remember it now, but ultimately i only use the website)

give one of these a try

1. Log onto www.vodacom4me.co.za and go to the "My Account" > "Account Info" menu option. Remember to use your data modem's "cellphone number" to logon.
2. SMS the letters MM to 31050 (free service) - you can send an SMS from the Vodafone Mobile Connect Software.
3. Click on the "View Usage" button in the Vodafone Mobile Connect Software which indicates month-to-date data usage. Note that this may not always be 100% accurate due to various technical reasons - such as viruses, spyware, etc. and could be up to 24-hours delayed.

I also use the www.vodacom4me.co.za website to monitor my usage. This is linked to Vodacoms systems directly and is accurate. I dont trust the installed software on a computer as it can be faulted due to you perhaps using the modem on another computer etc etc. Also with prepaid, your usage is pretty much up to date and not delayed...so what you see is what you have left.

Dial *111# , Balance Enguiry -> Data Bundle Balance

haha just realised you're not using a cellphone...

Thanks,

It only shows how much Rands you have left if you have no data bundle/depleted your data bundle. It usually shows your remaining Data Bundle and Remaining Airtime.

Vodacom4me will also just show much data you have left(for prepaid), not how much you've used.

Well the weird thing is on the Vodacom4Me site my account info has listed 22.75 rands available for airtime leftover and 0.00 Mb data bundle available, with blank for the data bundle expiry date. Its been like this for a week now so that doesn't seem accurate to me, with me using the internet daily!

Maybe I will pull the sim card out of the modem and stick it in a phone and dial that number as ashfaak suggested.

If it shows that you have 0 megs left on 4me, then it will most likely reflect the same on the other methods also as they all get the balance from the same system. What method did you use to load the bundle in the first place? 4me or *111#?

Sounds like a Data Bundle was never purchased? Lets say he has purchased a Data Bundle, and depleted it, it still shouldn't showed the expiry date.

OC, can you check his recharge history to see if the bundle was purchased?

Well it shows that I purchased a 2 gig data bundle in the recharge history on Jan 3. Other than that it doesn't seem to exist, especially in the balance area.

Perhaps I will just keep using it until it doesn't work anymore - hopefully the entire time I am in SA ;)

You guys here pay way too much for internet connectivity you know....
